18-Jan-2024 – Sow in the spiritual to reap in the physical

Published by Bro. Sunil Binkam on

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you – Mathew 6:33

If we meditate on verses 25 to 34 of Matthew 6, we can better understand the context. In these verses, Jesus discusses the birds and the flowers. Birds do not sow, yet they are provided with food. Flowers do not weave, yet they are clothed in beauty. However, what about us? We sow our seeds and make our clothes. Is it by our own capability? No, God has given us the wisdom to accomplish these things. Today, our focus is on “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

When God mentioned “all these things,” He was referring to the passage in Matthew 6:31, which advises, “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?” This implies that God ensures the provision of your basic life necessities. If those necessities are considered the fruit to sustain you, then there is a seed you must sow, and that is “seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”

The good seed brings forth good fruit. When we desire to understand the things of God, such as His characteristics, His will, His ways of revelation, and the methods He uses to execute His plans in our lives, it signifies a yearning to comprehend the aspects of the kingdom of God. As God said, “Seek, and you shall find” – Matthew 7:7.

The desire to know about God is the seed we must plant in the ground of the Word of God. If we lack the zeal to understand what the Word of God is conveying about our current situation, it’s akin to lacking moisture in rocky ground. If we are hindered by seemingly difficult subjects in the Word or false interpretations, they function like thorny bushes, and the Word we receive will be overcome by these hindrances, yielding no fruit.

However, if we maintain a continuous fellowship with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to teach us from the Word we receive, it will be akin to fertile, good ground. In this manner, the Word and its life will manifest in our lives, and our fruit will be 30-fold, 60-fold, and 100-fold. According to Matthew 6:33, when we seek the heavenly, earthly blessings are added. In other words, if we sow in the spiritual realm, guided by the Holy Spirit of God, we will reap in the physical realm.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for teaching me today about the aspect of sowing in the spiritual realm and reaping in the physical realm. Lord, help me to practice this in my life. Help me to trust your word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit and build my life as a testimony in the physical realm. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
