08-Jan-2024 – Your prayer can be a seed

Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer – Lamentations 3:8

Here in this verse we can see God doesn’t listen to our prayers even though we cry out loud. If we try to compare this prayer to a seed, praying is like sowing and the prayer itself is the seed. The answer to the prayer is the fruit. But what is the ground? Our relationship with God during that prayer is the ground. If we read the chapters before this verse, we can understand that the relationship between God and his children is spoiled. They did wrong in the site of God and because of that, God is pouring his anger and wrath on them.

In our life also, we will do a lot of things which kindle the anger of God. We will not pay attention to obey the word of God which is liken unto rocky ground. That means we lost the zeal for God. Some times we live a compromised life to please either our pleasures or the people around us. This is liken unto the thorny ground.

Today we are living under the manifested grace of God through Lord Jesus Christ. His word is more nearer to us than ever. Because of the sin offering of Lord Jesus on the cross of Calvary, we have an opportunity to confess our shortcomings and seek and receive cleansing. If we do this, our Lord is faithful and righteous to cleanse us from all the filth and uncleanness (1 John 1:9).

Even in the lamentations, it is written about the grace of God. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness – Lamentations 3:22-23.

So shall we set right our relationship with God and prepare our ground by removing all the stones and thorny bushes? So that we could receive answers to our prayers and enjoy the guidance and provision of our Lord for prayers.

Prayer

Dear Loving heavenly Father, thank you for today’s word. Thank you for teaching about my prayer life by comparing with the sowing of seed. Help me Lord to set my relationship with you according to the word and in Jesus Christ. Search me thoroughly and cleanse me. I pray in the name of my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
