Divine Mysteries: Revealed Secrets of God in Christ

Published by Bro. Sunil Binkam on

What is a mystery or secret?

Every one love to know secrets and if they are secrets of God, then they are more curious! According to the Oxford dictionary, a mystery is generally defined as something that is difficult or even impossible to understand. In a religious context, a mystery refers to a belief that is based on divine revelation, often seen as beyond human comprehension. As humans, our nature tends to spark curiosity when we know something is a secret. Interestingly, God, being aware of our innate curiosity, is willing to disclose His secrets to us. However, like with any other mystery or secret, there are conditions that need to be met in order for them to be revealed.

What is the mystery that God kept is secret?

The mystery that God has revealed to humanity is none other than Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was seen by different people in various ways. Some recognized him as a Jewish man, born to Mary. Others viewed him as a rebel, challenging the established norms and authority. There were those who saw him as a wise teacher and master, valuing his teachings and guidance. And yet, there were also individuals who felt pity for the suffering he endured but did not believe in his message.

To unravel a mystery or secret, the most reliable source of revelation is the one who initially conceived it. For instance, if I keep my plans of gifting my daughter a valuable present a secret, only I have the ability to disclose it. Even if I were to inform my wife, my daughter can only verify it with me. In a similar vein, when our heavenly Father declares that He has a secret to share about Jesus Christ, we can trust that His message is true.

How can we know that Jesus is the secret?

Indeed, our loving heavenly Father has been providing clues about Jesus Christ from the very beginning. Throughout history, God has been unveiling hints and prophecies that point to the coming of Jesus. These clues can be found in the scriptures, the lives of the prophets, and the divine interactions with humanity. They serve as a testament to God’s unfolding plan of redemption and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. By carefully observing and understanding these clues, we can gain insight into the profound significance of Jesus and His role in fulfilling God’s purpose for humanity.

Indeed, the clues about Jesus Christ can be traced back to the Garden of Eden. In the garden, the tree of life symbolizes Jesus Christ, while the tree of the knowledge of good and evil represents the allure and temptations of the world. God specifically instructed Adam not to eat from the tree of knowledge but did not explicitly forbid him from eating from the tree of life.

Indeed, God chose the line of David as part of His plan to bring forth the Messiah, not only for the Jewish people but for the entire world. By selecting the lineage of David, God fulfilled the promises made to Abraham, ensuring that through the Messiah, all people would have the opportunity to inherit the blessings of Abraham’s covenant. This lineage ultimately led to the birth of Jesus Christ, who became the long-awaited Messiah, bringing salvation and redemption to all who believe in Him, regardless of their nationality or background. Through Jesus, the blessings of Abraham extend to the whole world, offering the hope of reconciliation with God and eternal life.

Few things God told about Jesus

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. -Matthew 3:17

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. -Matthew 1:21

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. -Isaiah 9:6

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. -Isaiah 53:4-6

Indeed, these verses serve as key clues to understanding that Jesus is God’s plan for the redemption of all humanity from the state of sinfulness, darkness, and enmity with God. They provide insight into the divine intention to bring about salvation and reconciliation through Jesus Christ. By recognizing Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s plan, we can grasp the depth of God’s love and His desire to rescue humanity from the consequences of sin and restore them to a right relationship with Him.

Now is there any secret for those who believed in Jesus Christ?

Until now, we have seen that Jesus is the mystery for the world, a secret that God kept until the appointed time of fulfillment. This mystery revolves around the themes of salvation and redemption, revealing God’s plan to reconcile humanity to Himself. As a saved and born-again believer of Jesus Christ, you may wonder if there is still more to discover, another layer of mystery to unravel. The answer is a resounding YES!

Who (GOD) hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son (Jesus Christ): -Colossians 1:13

When we are born again, we indeed gain the citizenship of the kingdom of the Son of God. As citizens of this kingdom, we are granted certain privileges and blessings. We have access to the abundant grace, love, and forgiveness of God. Moreover, as the King, Jesus holds the authority and power to bring transformation and blessings into our lives within His kingdom. He can provide guidance, strength, and provision for our needs. He invites us to seek Him, trust Him, and submit to His lordship, allowing Him to work in our lives for our ultimate good and His glory. In His kingdom, we find security, purpose, and the hope of eternal life.

While we may perceive our earthly existence to be governed by kings, presidents, or prime ministers, it is important to grasp the underlying mystery: the spiritual realm holds ultimate control over the physical realm. Behind the scenes, spiritual forces and influences shape and impact our world in profound ways. These unseen realms, often beyond our immediate perception, hold significant sway over our lives, societies, and the unfolding of history.

As a believer, the revealed mystery is that Jesus Christ, as your Lord and King, has authority over your physical life and social situations. To experience the hand of your King in your life, it is essential to truly know Him, acknowledge His lordship, and cultivate a deep relationship with Him. Trusting in Him and aligning your life according to His guidance and commands are key steps to experiencing His transformative power and presence. By surrendering to Jesus’ authority and seeking His will in all aspects of your life, you open the door for Him to work mightily on your behalf.

In whom (Jesus Christ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. -Colossians 2:3

To effectively handle a situation, both knowledge and wisdom are essential. Knowledge refers to having the information, facts, and understanding about a particular situation or subject matter. It involves gathering data, learning from experiences, and acquiring expertise in a specific area.

However, wisdom goes beyond mere knowledge. It is the ability to discern, evaluate, and apply knowledge in a thoughtful and appropriate manner. Wisdom involves sound judgment, critical thinking, and practical decision-making. It considers the broader implications, consequences, and long-term effects of actions taken in a given situation.

Both knowledge and wisdom are “hid” in Jesus Christ. When something is hidden, we must take action to uncover it. If it is hidden underground, we search and dig. But if it is hidden in someone’s mind, we need to ask questions. However, the person may not answer unless we have a relationship with them. Building trust and connection creates an environment where they feel comfortable sharing what is hidden within their thoughts.

Similarly, the knowledge and wisdom that are hidden in Christ can only be discovered through a personal relationship and fellowship with Him. Just as with any person, to truly understand and access the depths of His knowledge and wisdom, we must cultivate a close and intimate connection with Him. It is through this relationship that we can uncover the treasures of wisdom and understanding that He offers.

When we consider people in the world, they may be experts in specific fields, and we can rely on their knowledge and wisdom in those areas on certain occasions. However, Jesus stands apart as the King of Kings and the Creator Himself. He possesses comprehensive knowledge and complete control over all things. Regardless of the problem or situation we face, we can turn to Him and find a solution. Jesus’ wisdom surpasses human understanding, and His power transcends earthly limitations. He is the ultimate source of guidance, comfort, and provision. No matter the challenge, we can trust in His unwavering ability to provide the answers and solutions we need.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. -Colossians 2:9

Previously, we saw the knowledge and wisdom that are necessary for life on earth. However, when it comes to spiritual growth and understanding, our ultimate source of learning is Jesus Christ alone. According to Colossians 2:9, the “fullness of the Godhead” resides in Jesus Christ. This means that in Him, we find the complete revelation of God’s nature, character, and wisdom.

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. -Colossians 1:15-17

Indeed, according to the passage in Colossians 1:15-17, we gain a clear understanding that Jesus Christ holds a unique position and significance. He is described as the image of the invisible God and the firstborn of every creature. It emphasizes that all things were created by Him and for Him, both in the visible and invisible realms. The passage further states that He is before all things and by Him, all things consist.

This highlights the central role of Jesus Christ in creation and sustenance. He is not merely a source of life, but the ultimate source of life itself. Apart from Him, there is no other entity or force that can fulfill this vital role. He is the foundation, the purpose, and the sustainer of all existence.

Understanding this truth reinforces the fact that our lives find their true meaning, purpose, and fulfillment in Jesus Christ. He is the source of our life, both in the physical and spiritual realms. He offers us salvation, reconciliation with God, and eternal life through faith in Him.

Why is this considered a mystery when we hear about it frequently in church?

A mystery is not solely limited to physical concealment; it can also refer to something that remains hidden from our understanding. Consider this scenario: when we discuss our colleagues or friends in their presence, they may not comprehend what we are saying. Therefore, the content of our conversation becomes a mystery to them.

Similarly, when we hear about Jesus being the ultimate source of all our needs and the importance of building a relationship with Him, we may struggle to fully comprehend its significance. Often, we find ourselves forgetting these truths once the sermon or teaching is over. As a result, it remains a mystery as to why we may not experience breakthroughs or see the desired transformations in our lives.

However, once the mystery is truly revealed and grasped, it empowers us to take action. When we genuinely understand the depth of Jesus’ role in our lives and the importance of cultivating a relationship with Him, we can actively pursue that relationship, seeking His guidance and surrendering to His will. This understanding propels us to align our lives with His teachings and principles, leading to tangible changes and breakthroughs in our spiritual journey.

How Jesus guides us when we seek his help?

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. -Colossians 1:18

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. -John 1:14

Indeed, the church is often referred to as the body of Christ, with Christ Himself as the head. This analogy reflects the unity and interconnectedness of believers within the church. In a similar vein, the comparison to a kingdom is apt. In a kingdom, the king holds the position of authority and leadership, guiding and directing the citizens.

The Word of God has always been and continues to be the primary means through which God communicates with people. Throughout history, God has used various forms of communication to convey His message, and the Word of God remains central in this process.

In the context of the church, the Word of God is proclaimed through sermons and teachings, providing guidance, encouragement, and instruction to believers. Church gatherings offer opportunities to hear and engage with the Word through preaching, study groups, and worship services.

Moreover, in our daily lives, the Word of God speaks to us through personal Bible reading and study. As we dive into the Scriptures, we can encounter God’s truths, principles, and promises that are relevant to our lives. The Word provides guidance, comfort, conviction, and inspiration, nurturing our faith and helping us grow in our relationship with God.

In today’s digital age, the Word of God can also be shared through various mediums, such as online sermons, videos, social media posts, and songs. These platforms provide accessible and convenient ways to engage with the Word, reaching a broader audience and allowing individuals to encounter God’s message in different formats.

Ultimately, the Word of God remains a vital means through which God communicates with His people. It is through these various channels that we can hear His voice, receive His guidance, and be transformed by His truth. As we engage with the Word, whether in a church setting, personal study, or digital platforms, we open ourselves up to the ongoing communication of God and the transformative power of His Word in our lives.

How can I know that something I heard is from God only?

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. -Mark 16:20

Indeed, as believers, we belong to a living and active God who sees and responds to our needs. He is not distant or passive but intimately involved in the lives of His people. When we approach God with our requests and prayers, He not only listens but also responds in His perfect timing and wisdom.

God not only sends His word in response to our requests but also provides signs and confirmation to affirm His guidance and enable the fulfillment of His word. These signs can come in various forms, such as specific circumstances aligning, doors opening or closing, the testimony of others, or a deep sense of peace and confirmation within our spirits.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. -Isaiah 55:11

God’s word cannot return void until it accomplishes – This is another secret if you can stand on it by faith.
