07-Sep-2024 – God loves yourdedication and skill

And King Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre. He was a widow’s son from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass. He was filled with wisdom, understanding, and skill to work with brass. Hiram came to King Solomon and performed all his work. – 1 Kings 7:13-14
This whole chapter talks about the details of the temple’s construction, describing the grandeur of its design, precision, and artistry. Amidst all this, a brass worker named Hiram is mentioned. He was the son of a widow from the tribe of Naphtali. His father, also a brass worker, had passed away, and Hiram might have learned this trade from him.
If we consider Hiram’s life for a moment, we see that he was a widow’s son. We don’t know at what age he lost his father, but Hiram is known as the son of a widow. This suggests that he likely spent a significant portion of his life without his father.
Hiram was very skilled in his work. It is written, “he was filled with wisdom, understanding, and skill to work with brass.” No matter how skilled a person may be, without proper opportunities, it can be difficult to earn a living and take care of their family.
God opened a way for Hiram to go to King Solomon. Here, his skills were used by God to open a path for him to work on the temple under King Solomon’s command.
“And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basins. So Hiram finished all the work that he did for King Solomon for the house of the LORD.” – 1 Kings 7:40
God provided Hiram with a large-scale project that allowed him to settle his life. Now, he could take care of his mother and his family. Our God sees the lives of His people and responds, but His response follows a divine timeline.
In your life, you might be going through a mediocre phase, just meeting necessities or sometimes falling short. But as a believer, if you focus on the work given to you and do it perfectly and skillfully, whether in your job or in serving the LORD, God will surely open a way for you to use your skills for His glory and for your satisfaction and a better life.
Today, God reminds us to focus seriously on the work given to us and put in our full effort to accomplish it. Then God will open new ways to promote you and enlarge your territory.
