04-Sep-2024 – Do you need a way in your overwhelming situations?

Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; – Isaiah 43:16
Yesterday, we saw how our God can make a way in the wilderness and what the wilderness actually represents. Today, we will learn about another remarkable ability of our God—making a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters. First, let us understand the physical aspects of these two scenarios, and then apply them to our lives.
A sea is a large body of water. From a navigational perspective, it is very difficult to find an observable path in the sea. Sailors use a compass to determine their direction, so they can stay on course to reach their destination. Without a compass, they would be lost at sea.
Now, let’s apply this to our life scenarios. We often use the metaphor of a sea to describe something vast or overwhelming in our daily lives, particularly when we need to find something specific amidst it all. For example, consider a family going through various troubles in life, surrounded by debts and pressing needs. We might say that this family is in the middle of a “sea of troubles.”
Finding a way in such overwhelming situations means finding a solution. It’s incredibly difficult to discover a solution when you are surrounded by such immense pressures. But our God is capable of making a way in these kinds of situations. The compass to navigate through such circumstances is the Word of God.
Secondly, we see that our God is capable of creating a path in the mighty waters. If we meditate on the idea of a path, it represents a laid-out way to reach a particular destination. Mighty waters, in general, refer to flowing waters. Consider a flood situation where the stream is so strong that even vehicles can be washed away. In such a situation, making a path for rescue operations becomes very difficult.
In our lives, sometimes one problem follows another, like a relentless stream of issues being thrown at us. Navigating through them becomes tedious and tiresome, and there is a risk of being overwhelmed by them. For example, imagine a person working and earning a certain amount. That month, they unexpectedly need to take care of household requirements. The very next day, they find out their bike insurance has expired and needs renewal. Then the next day, there’s a school fee payment, and after that, some other urgent requirement. It’s even scary to imagine.
In such situations, a path represents addressing the most critical issue. Just like in a flood with mighty waters, you wouldn’t try to address everything at once. You would focus on the most important thing first. God is reminding you that in these situations, He will definitely make a way for you to come out of them.
To experience this wonderful aspect of God, the most important thing required is that you belong to Him. When you believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and His work on the cross of Calvary, you will be saved, born again, and you will belong to God Himself.
Sometimes strangers may help in needy situations, but your own father and mother will always try to help you in your time of need. Similarly, even though you may not believe in God, He may help you in your time of need. However, to truly rely on His help, you need to belong to Him.
Prayer:
Dear loving Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for teaching us today about another aspect of Your ability to create a way in the sea and in mighty waters. Lord, help us to depend on Your help in our situations. Moreover, help us to build a relationship with You. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen!
