16-Jul-2024 – Receive, Recognise and enjoy the Results
“For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth.” – Colossians 1:5-6
We need to clearly and slowly read this to understand it fully. There is a hope that is stored for us in heaven. This verse says that we heard about it in the word of truth of the gospel. In other words, the gospel message told us about the hope that is stored for us in heaven.
Now, this message of hope came to us and went forth into the whole world. This message of hope brings forth fruit only when we hear it and understand the grace of God in truth. In other words, only when you hear the message of hope, receive it as the word of truth, and believe, will the fruit of the message be manifested.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32
If we read this verse in the context we understood till now, when we know the truth, the truth will make us free. What is knowing the truth? The word used in Greek is “ginosko,” which means to learn, to know, to perceive.
Perceiving is the process by which individuals become aware of and interpret sensory information from their environment. It involves recognizing, organizing, and making sense of the data received through the senses.
So when we hear the word of God, we must first recognize that the word is from God. Otherwise, the word you received can mislead you, as Satan can also give you words like an angel of light.
Once you receive the word, you should organize it in your life. For example, if I am praying for guidance in something and receive Joel 1:4-14, I should organize the context in my life and the subject I prayed for. Is there anything I did not do well, and because of that am I going through the cankerworm, palmerworm experience? That means, whatever I do, there is no result. Then the next step of making sense of that word comes.
Then I will receive the word, verify my life as per the received word, and then apply the word in my life. Then the word will become fruitful. That means the promised redemption in my life will be experienced, and the subject I was praying for will manifest perfectly according to the will of my Father.
That’s why today God is reminding us by saying, “the truth of the gospel bringeth forth fruit, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth.”
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching us today the practical way of receiving the word of truth in our lives and how to see the results thereof. Help me to follow your words, believe them, and apply them in my life to experience freedom from sin and defeat. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
