14-Jul-2024 – Believe Him in small things

Published by Bro. Sunil Binkam on

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. -Mark 9:23

Yesterday, we learned from this same verse about the principle of believing Him. We learned how this principle is applied for our salvation and our return to the LORD when we go astray. Today, God wants us to know some more scenarios where we can apply this principle in our daily lives.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. -James 5:17

Here, Elias believed that God would hear his prayer and respond accordingly. I, too, have heard from many men and women of God about their experiences with rain in relation to prayer. Just yesterday, we experienced something similar in our church.

Our church building was under construction, and the slab work was happening since morning. By 4 pm, the sky was full of black clouds, and it seemed like rain would come any moment, threatening the slab work. Everyone, in their own homes, believed in God’s faithfulness and prayed. There was no rain, and the slab work continued undisturbed.

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. -Luke 16:10

This verse speaks about the requirement of our faithfulness. If God tells us that whatever we ask in the name of the LORD Jesus Christ will be given to us, our faithfulness would be in believing this truth and asking God by faith. So, if we believe in small things, we can believe in big things as well.

I had a similar experience yesterday. We went shopping for my birthday to buy new clothes. I didn’t want to spend much money on clothes. Though I didn’t formally pray, in my heart, I acknowledged that God would help me find good clothes without wasting money. There was a buy 1 get 1 free offer, and I liked two shirts. When searching for pants, they were more expensive. Then, we continued searching for something more reasonable. To my surprise, there was a buy 2 get 2 free offer with a nominal increased price. Instead of two pairs, I got four pairs within my budget.

This may seem like a small thing, but even in this small matter, if we can believe, our God is much more faithful. Today, God reminds you and me of His commitment to satisfy us with the best things. The only thing we need to practice is to believe in Him in every small aspect of our lives.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching us once more about the principle of believing in You. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to remember Your grace and mercy. Thank you for being faithful and committed to satisfying us with the best things. Help us to satisfy You with our faith in the LORD. I pray in the name of my LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen!
