05-Jul-2024 – Change from guilty heart to contrite heart

Published by Bro. Sunil Binkam on

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. -Isaiah 57:15

Whenever I read this chapter, I feel renewed because it offers hope and enables believers to restart with a renewed spirit. In verses 3 to 13, we see a list of transgressions where God addresses the Israelites with harsh words, calling them the seed of adulterers and prostitutes. Despite God’s leadership, provision, and protection, they found every opportunity to worship false gods through idolatry.

And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not? -Isaiah 57:11

God highlights that the Israelites indulged in these activities as if someone more powerful forced them, causing them to forget and betray God. This is very true even in our current generation. We often become people-pleasers, making adjustments to gain approval or profit from others. The time and talents we once dedicated to glorifying God are now used to please men. We forget to consider how God would feel about our actions because He is not visible, while the people around us are.

God does not want us to be like that. He seeks those whom He can transform again. He says, “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

Are you struggling in your heart because of foolish things you did, even after God warned you through His word? Do you feel guilty of indulging in sinful activities or things that do not bring glory to God’s name, but now feel bad about it? Is your heart broken when you realize you are not worthy of receiving the Lord’s love?

God says if your heart is broken genuinely and you have truly humbled yourself, He will dwell in your heart. When God dwells in a place, it becomes holy ground. His commandments will be executed, and His glory will be manifested.

Today, God reminds us and gives us another chance to receive His wonderful hand. Even if you have drifted from God’s will, if this message pricks your heart, don’t hesitate to confess and repent. Believe in God’s character and receive your breakthrough.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, I confess that I have compromised multiple times with the world and flesh. Forgive me, Lord. Truly, as if I don’t fear You, I went away and participated in unholy activities and thoughts. Forgive me today and renew my heart. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
