19-Jun-2024 – What you believe about God is what will manifest in your situation

Matthew 8:13: “Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee.”

Today, God is speaking to us about a powerful truth. Our God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and all-powerful. There is nothing that can come against our God and stand before Him. This powerful and sovereign God is giving us the key to a relationship with Him: our faith.

Believing in God is an important key to having a fruitful, joyful, and meaningful relationship with Him. Consider Abraham, about whom it was written:

Genesis 15:6: “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”

At that point, Abraham believed God regarding offspring, but he did not fully realize that God is supernatural. Abraham believed, as per the traditions of the land, that even if he had children through his wife’s handmaid, those children would be counted as his own. Accordingly, God blessed the children of Hagar:

Genesis 16:10: “And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.”

Abraham’s belief about countless descendants came to pass through Hagar. But God then taught Abraham about His most important characteristic: that God is supernatural and physical conditions are not a hindrance to His word being fulfilled.

Genesis 17:18-19: “And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.”

Initially, Abraham did not believe his physical condition could make this promise manifest.

Genesis 18:10: “And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.”

Genesis 18:14: “Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”

God visited Abraham again, specifying the time and season for the promise to be fulfilled, with Isaac, the promised son, as the recipient of God’s blessings. Abraham’s experience with God’s wrath on Sodom and Gomorrah further solidified his faith.

Genesis 22:2-5: “And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.”

Abraham’s ultimate display of faith came when God asked him to offer his only son. Without questioning, he prepared to sacrifice Isaac, believing God would either spare him or bring him back to life.

Genesis 22:8: “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

Even when circumstances hadn’t changed, Abraham remained steadfast in his faith. When Isaac asked about the lamb, Abraham confidently stated that God would provide.

Similarly, the centurion in Matthew 8 believed in Jesus’ power to heal his servant with just a word. As he believed, it happened. Abraham had a personal walk with God, and the centurion had heard of Jesus’ miracles. David also had experiences with God and believed He would deliver the Philistine into his hands.

Today, God asks you: Do you understand His characteristics through your walk with Him? Do you believe in the attributes of God that have made your journey possible thus far?

Are you stuck in a repeated sinful cycle? An unproductive situation? Financial troubles? Any blockage to your progress and the fulfillment of God’s promises?

Believe in the aspect of God you have observed. Abraham believed God could bring life to dead situations. The centurion believed in the power of God’s word. What do you believe about God in your situation? Today’s rhema for you is that whatever you believe about God will manifest in your life.

Prayer:

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching me this wonderful truth today. Yes, Lord, in my situation, I recognize who you are to me. For Abraham, you are Jehovah Jireh; for me, you are everything, Lord. In my situation, you are the way-maker, the miracle worker, and the promise keeper. I thank you for what you are to me, Lord. Help me to witness your nature in my situations. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!
