03-Jun-2024 – Do not fear but endure

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. – Revelation 2:11
In this letter, God addresses the church in Smyrna, acknowledging its conditions and the difficulties surrounding it:
I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. – Revelation 2:9
This church is enduring tough times and a lack of resources. Yet, God declares that they are rich, meaning they lack nothing because they know God is their shepherd.
Additionally, there are people within the church claiming to be Jews but are not, causing trouble.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. – Revelation 2:10
Applying this to our personal lives, as believers, we may encounter difficult situations, experiencing need without resources. Despite this, we remain steadfast in God’s faithfulness.
This stance can provoke discouragement or trouble from people within our family or church. But God tells us not to fear future hardships. We must remain faithful, even unto death, holding onto our faith till the last moment.
In our daily lives, especially in areas like finance, health, marriage, and career, we may face similar challenges. Standing strong on God’s word, Satan may use various people to create stumbling blocks or spoil opportunities.
But today, God encourages us to continue standing firm on His promises. Even when situations seem dire, God assures us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
The experience of the Smyrna church is significant for each believer. God allows such experiences to test our faith, which is more precious than gold and silver.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for teaching us about the church of Smyrna. Help us to stand strong on the word we received, even when situations are unfavorable. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen!
