19-May-2024 – Know your operating boundary

Published by Sunil Binkam on

“For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it” – Matthew 8:9.

In this portion, we see the words of a centurion. A centurion was a professional officer in the Roman army who commanded a unit of about 80 soldiers. Their roles included training their troops, maintaining discipline, leading soldiers in battle, and handling administrative duties. Centurions were known for their leadership skills, bravery, and experience, playing a crucial role in the effectiveness and organization of the Roman military.

In a kingdom, a centurion is only responsible for a group within the military, but there are other ranks and officers as well. In the context of the verse, there is a boundary within which the authority is applicable.

The verse we referred to contains the words of the centurion to the Lord Jesus Christ. Here he acknowledges the authority of Jesus and the boundary of His authority.

Jesus, being the King of kings, commands the whole creation to obey Him. Similarly, like the centurion, God appoints us over a group of people within our boundary of authority. Unlike physical empires, our authority operates through the spiritual realm.

God appoints us to roles in the spiritual realm to train, protect, and discipline those whom He has placed within our boundary of operation. Our spouses, children, and others whom God leads to us are within our boundary of authority.

When you use your authority in the spiritual realm for them, it will manifest. When you pray for them in the name of Jesus, as you have a formal and appointed boundary of operation, your prayer brings results.

Today, ask God about your boundary of operation. Take responsibility for their spiritual education and be on the front line for them in spiritual realms and battles.

Prayer:

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for teaching us today about authority and the boundary of its operation. Help me, Lord, to understand my operating boundary and take responsibility. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
