07-May-2024 – You belong to the kingdom of god, and living as a foreigner on this earth
And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? -Mark 6:2
In this verse, we can see what people could experience with the ministry of Jesus. Just to set the context –
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, -Mark 1:14
We can understand that Jesus was preaching the gospel or the good news of the kingdom of God. In the sixth chapter also, on the sabbath day, he started teaching in the synagogue. And the people who heard him were astonished. They were hearing in the synagogue about God and the Law since ages.
But this time, there is a difference in the message and people could immediately understand that these are the words of wisdom. That means, to teach in the way Jesus taught them, it requires a special wisdom.
Jesus in the 6th chapter, 2nd verse, Jesus only began to teach but the people were remembering the mighty works he did. That means, the way Jesus taught the word of God is actually manifested in the way he operate to do those mighty works.
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. -Mark 1:22
From this verse, we can understand that the teaching of the Jesus is with authority. The authority to unlock the potential of the word of God and perform the mighty works to glorify the Father in heaven.
But how Jesus knew this heavenly truths from the same word that the scribes were teaching since ages?
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. -1 Corinthians 2:9-10
Based on this word, the Holy Spirit of God is the reason to know the deeper truths that were hidden for the normal eye. The Holy Spirit God was in Jesus in completeness.
Okay, Jesus is the Son of God and He has the opportunity to get these things. But what about us? Can we also get the same opportunity?
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: -John 1:12
If we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, immediately we will be counted as a son of God or a daughter of God. This enables us with the availability of the things of Jesus Christ being co-heirs with him.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. -John 14:12
That means, we are not only got the opportunity to be called as sons and daughters of God, but we also will be enabled and equipped to perform the same or even more greater miracles as Jesus.
From this we can understand that , the power of the kingdom of God is available to you and me through the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Only thing we need to do is, using it by faith and for the glorification of God alone.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace in teaching the wonderful truths of the kingdom of God. You changed my life from the day I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal saviour. Thank you for the resources you kept for me to use on this earth in my life. Help me to understand my authority and live accordingly. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
