I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD. -Ezekiel 34:15

The 34th chapter of Ezekiel is a wonderful chapter that explains the heart of our heavenly Father. As we are meditating based on the theme, “the kingdom of God”, we will extract the truths as led by the Holy Spirit of God.

In the verse we read, God conveys a relationship, “my flock”. The usage of “my” is seen many times in this chapter. If we feel ownership of something then only we can say, “my” something. If you think about a king, he will say, “my” kingdom and “my” people. Here in this chapter God addresses three groups of people.

prophesy against the shepherds of Israel – Ezekiel 34:2

The first group is the shepherds. Shepherds represents the leaders of the people. If you think of any kingdom, there is an administration hierarchy, which goes up to the supreme. In this chapter, we can understand the shepherds are various leaders like the priests, kings, elders etc. who administer various aspects of Israelites.

In the chapter, these shepherds are not taking the proper care of the people but they are working fort their own welfare. If you look at current day administration in many countries, this is exactly true. The leaders misuse the power and feed themselves and get richer day by day, but gives least importance to the welfare of the general citizens.

And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats. -Ezekiel 34:17

The seconds group is among the people only. But they are stronger either financially or social status. Because of their advantage of having stronger background, they use it to grab more resources, opportunities and destroy the opportunities for normal people. Even if you consider in current world, there are people who are rich and can bribe and get favours from the system. They use the resources for their luxury and least bothers about the availability to general public.

Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle. -Ezekiel 34:22

The third group is the general people who are not privileged, not administrators but normal people. These cannot raise their voice against the mistreatments. These cannot raise up against the injustice. But here God says, he will take the things into his hands and he says that he will appoint a good shepherd over them.

This is what the kingdom of God. In His kingdom, God will monitor the things and responds when it is required to render the justice. But logically if you think, if God has to take care of you, you need to belong to His kingdom. How you can be part of His kingdom?

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: -Colossians 1:13

When you believe in the only begotten Son of the most High, then you will be added to the kingdom of God. Then God will not let any injustice happen to you.

You may get a question asking, “as God, he should take care of everyone unconditionally, as he only created everyone whether they accept of not?”.

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. -Matthew 5:45

Actually he is doing that. That’s why everyone is getting an opportunity to live and know the true God. But when you are deliberately staying away from the kingdom of God, then you are only responsible for your decisions.

But the good news is, our Father is loving Father. Even if you went away but if you come to your senses, realize your mistake and repent and comeback, your King will never abandon you. He will welcome you back with joy!

If this message touches you, Praise your God and thank Him.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching us the valuable lesson about the kingdom of God. In your kingdom, you will make sure the justice is delivered. You will never leave the oppressed and you own your children. Because of your nature only, I am getting an opportunity to live my life happily and without lack. Help me to understand this and be thankful and content. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
