19-Apr-2024 – If you are in slavery like Jacob, your Redeemer can set you free

Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages; -Isaiah 49:8

Today we are publishing another wonderful work of God that He did for our lives. This portion is a profound prophetic revelation of the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is a tricky usage of names in this portion in previous verses.

And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. -Isaiah 49:3

And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. -Isaiah 49:5

In these two verse, we can see the following characters.

1. First Israel: The LORD’s chosen to bring Jacob back to God.
2. Jacob: Represents the nation of Israel
3. Second Israel: Represents the nation of Israel.

Israel means “God preserves”. So, the “first Israel” whom God chosen to redeem Jacob is “the preserver”. The “second Israel” is the “preserved”. And Jacob represents the lost due to the wickedness.

This portion even though confusion, gives us a picture of our salvation in our daily lives after being a born again believer. Jacob is the compromised life, forgetting the true mission but deviated for the allurings of the world, willingly submitting into the slavery of the world.

Israel is the life after we are gathered back from the fallen nature, the distractions, the wickedness, the worldly flesh driven and pleasure driven nature to the spiritually enlightened and strengthened nature.

Now the Israel who redeems and preserves us for God is the Lord Jesus Christ. As the Lord Jesus Christ is the word of God, now we are preserved by the word of God. If you read all the devotionals that were compiled and published till now, you can understand how God was actually encouraging, admonishing and gathering us back the truth of relationship with him.

So, the wonderful work of God for us today to remember is establishing and ordaining the redeemer and preserver. Even though your life is like Jacob who was willingly submitted to the slavery for his love. Our redeemer can redeem us and break the chain of slavery and bring us back to God to stand like a prince.

Prayer

Thank you dear loving Father. Today you taught a wonderful truth about the path you laid for us. Our Lord Jesus Christ, completed the work of our salvation on the cross and open the way for us. Even though we are sometimes overcome by the flesh and the world, thy Holy Spirit and thy word reroutes us back to you. Thank you for this wonderful work you completed and given for us. Help us to realise and walk in it and utilize it. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
