01-Apr-2024 – To publish the works of God, you must observe his move in your life
Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see – Mathew 11:4
Today we start a new month and a new theme called, “publish the works of God”. This is an amazing these given by God. By remembering the last 3 month’s themes and the revelations God given us, we are getting prepared to publish His wonderful works in our lives.
Just to recap the themes –
- January – Seed
- February – Do You Have?
- March – Faith
- April – Publish the works of God.
There was a question by the disciples of John whether Jesus is the Messiah or someone else? But Jesus did not answer them by saying yes or no, but asked him to publish these things that they witnessed to John.
That means, the works of God will speak louder and clear. Let us just see what kind of works these disciples saw –
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have gospel preached to them – Mathew 11:5
These works cannot be done by anybody just like that. Because they are not magic. They are the works of God. John the Baptist was sent to prepare the way for the Messiah. He did that also faithfully. But he got confused because, the image he built in his mind about Messiah is different from what he is actually experiencing.
John heard from the Holy Spirit and recognized that Jesus is the Messiah. But still when the expectations are not met, he got confused. Then Jesus points him to the works he was doing. Because all these things can only be done by the Spirit of God.
Even Jesus says similarly to the disciples, who could not believe the revelation about Him.
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very work’s sake – John 14:11
In our daily practical life also it is very obvious, when we receive a word as a promise in our situations, we may have various expectations. For example, you got a promise of God regarding your career advancement. You are excited and waiting for that, but you did not get your promotion. But you got placed in a position that very challenging and tough.
Obviously, our morale will be down. We will immediately go into the find where the things went wrong. That is good only, but we need one more important thing, to observe what is happening. Why God moved to you a place where there are many challenges? Is it to trouble you? Or is it an opportunity that you only can perform well in that situation?
Observe how the challenges are getting resolved one by one, how you are being recognized in the assignment for your ideas and way of working. How you are even getting solutions to move ahead? If you see God’s move, even if your expectations are not met, don’t worry. He is preparing you for something big!
That’s why, an important part of a believer’s life is “observing the move of God” along with the word meditation, prayers and worship. Unless you observe and be mindful of how God is moving or acting in your life, you cannot understand what is happening, just like how John the Baptist felt.
Publish means, communicating to someone about something. Sometimes you have to publish the works of God, to yourself to resolve your doubts on the fulfilment of His promises. Get into a room and publish them or declare them in prayer and worship to break the barrier of doubts.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for the theme of this month. Today you reminded us about the importance of observing how you are operating in our lives. Because, we will definitely go through confusing and doubtful situations which will make us uncomfortable. But when we know how you are operating in our lives, that gives us faith and ground to stand on that faith. Help me to find how you are dealing with me. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
