03-Mar-2024 – You need faith to walk after the Spirit
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit – Romans 8:1-4
Flesh represents the natural way of doing things. Experiencing things in the purview of natural laws both physical and moral ways.
Spirit represents the way of God revealed through his word, revelation, Spirit etc. regarding a particular area of our natural life.
If we closely observe, both ways the flesh or the spirit in our life on the earth will accomplish physically only. But the outcomes will be different because of the way chose.
Based on the word we read, as we are not Israelites, the promise and the relationship with God was there before Jesus Christ. So naturally we don’t know about God’s ways so we cannot please him.
Or we will only do things based on the experiences we learn naturally or how the world teaches us either through school, social media or movies or motivations.
Based on these things, we are bound by the Law of God and the punishment accordingly will be upon us.
Once we believed in Jesus Christ, we are made free from the law of sin and death. That means now we are provided with a new way of life.
Only thing we need to do is, without following the ways of the world first we need to connect with the Spirit of God in prayer and word. This way, we will be able to find the right way.
Sometimes this is the best natural way God intended or a supernatural way that God wanted. Whatever it may be it would be the best way for our life.
For example, I am working on a problem in my work. I collaborated with many people to resolve it. That’s what I naturally can do according to flesh. Based on this, based on whether I prepared well, dis my homework well or not, did I involve the right team or not the outcome will be decided.
But when I pray for the same thing, wait for the word of God and then believe it as given by God, we are following the way of Spirit. This way irrespective of our preparation God’s grace would open a supernatural way like, a small spelling mistake is uncovered or a right help document is found or one of the unexpected member would come with a break through idea or sometimes a restart of the system would also solve.
Whatever it may be, it was the way of God to release life in your stuck situation. This can only happen by and through faith in God through Jesus Christ.
So you need faith in Jesus to walk after the Spirit. Without faith you cannot wait in prayer in your stuck situations. Without faith you cannot wait for the word of God to be released in your struggling situation. Without faith, you cannot stand strong in that situation. That’s why, you need faith to walk after the Spirit.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching me about faith today to walk after your Spirit. Even though my situations tough, by faith I can wait for the move of God which is walking after the Spirit of God. Help me Lord to stand strong in the testing times to experience and testify your faithfulness and grace. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
