I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase – 1 Corinthians 3:6

Today, we observe another aspect in the growth of a seed: “watering.”

Watering a plant from the seed stage is crucial. Water facilitates food preparation and the transportation of nutrients required by various parts of the plant.

Spiritually, watering represents nourishing with the word of God, as articulated in Proverbs:

“My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge” – Proverbs 5:1-2

God’s wisdom and understanding come through His word. By paying attention and listening to the word of God, we gradually strengthen ourselves and can make righteous choices in various situations.

In this manner, we grow, and our fruit becomes evident to all.

“That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word” – Ephesians 5:26

Water is also employed for cleansing. Similarly, the word of God has the power to purify our spirit and mind.

As believers, our life at every stage depends on the word of God to cleanse us with the truth, empower us with the life within it, and guide us with the light it provides. May God assist us in adhering to His word in every situation of our lives.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your word. Your word cleanses me daily as it embodies the truth of the Lord Jesus Christ. It encourages and empowers me. I am grateful for the companionship of your word. Please help me rely on your word in every situation of my life. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!
