31-Aug-2024 – How far you might have gone, still there is hope

Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house. -1 Kings 21:29
Today is the last day for our theme prayer. Today God is talking to us about one of the worst kings of all time in the history of Israel, and his prayer. This king’s name of Ahab.
But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. -1 Kings 21:25
This is the testimony of Ahab. He sold himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. If we carefully observe the story of Ahab, we can see our own life. Ahab is an ordained king of Israelites. So Ahab has authority and responsibility. But the statement, “Ahab sold himself” gives us a hint that he was not a wicked one from the beginning. There is a beginning of his wickedness. Again, the statement, “whom Jezebel his wife stirred up…” gives us a hint about Jezebel influenced Ahab and he could not refuse but submitted as a bond servant to the influence of Jezebel. From the charismatic assemblies, you might have heard of the spirit of Jezebel. Jezebel represents, a powerful influencing power, which is predominantly against the LORD.
In our practical life, inwardly we may want to obey God or live in compliance with divine principles. But in each one of our lives, there will be something that is dominating. Whose influence cannot be overcome. This may not be a person like in Ahab’s case, but it could be a weakness, an addiction or a desire or even like Ahab, it could be a relationship as well. If these things in your life are controlling your spirituality and influencing you to commit something against God, it is like Jezebel.
From Ahab’s point of view, he cannot do anything to Jezebel. But he damaged his life and lost blessings and finally received curses from the LORD. But when Ahab heard the judgement of God, then the influence of Jezebel was not able to stop him from praying and fasting. This is the important turning point that God wanted to teach us.
If Ahab, who was established himself as a wicked kind, against the Lord God, against the prophets of God, becoming a stumbling block to the people of God, when fasted and prayed, God could hear, how much more when you and me pray unto him in our low state, he would hear and answer our prayers?
Today God is reminding you that how much far you might have gone, there is still a chance to return. your genuine repent prayer can change the situations. Our God is righteous, His law, he would not break. Genuine repent prayer must be answered, and God will answer. If God is speaking to you, don’t hesitate.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for reminding me that even in my low state, I have still chance to come back, stand again for you. Help me in my life, not to give up when failed to my flesh, but stand again and continue my fight by faith. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
