29-Jun-2024 – Trust God at all times
For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD. – Jeremiah 39:18
These are the words spoken by God to Jeremiah. On one side, the city of Jerusalem was being seized by the king of Babylon. The city was broken, and the enemy army had entered.
The king of Jerusalem and his army were trying to escape instead of standing and fighting the enemy. The people were left without protection.
But God spoke to Jeremiah and said, “I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.”
They even sent for Jeremiah, took him out of the court of the prison, and committed him to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, so that he could be taken home. Thus, he dwelt among the people. – Jeremiah 39:14
All the people, except the poor and Jeremiah, were taken captive. This portion highlights the importance of “putting our trust in the Lord.” The situations around may seem too much to bear. Everything around may be collapsing. But for those who put their trust in the Lord, He becomes their protector.
Even if you remember the poor people in the land of Jerusalem, God made the enemy officers have compassion on them. They were allowed to live in Jerusalem and were given vineyards.
Today, you might be going through a very difficult situation. Things may seem to be collapsing one after another. But if you stand on the word you received and believe that it was sent by God, and put your trust in Him, you will not perish in these situations. Instead, you will find a way out.
Prayer
Dear loving Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for reminding me today again about putting my trust in you. Thank you for the compassion and grace that you shower on those who put their trust in you. Help me to always trust you in any situation. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen!
