29-Feb-2024 – Do you have loaves and Faith in Jesus?

And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. -Mark 8:5

We would have meditated this portion hundreds of times and even during Sunday school lessons we might have learnt. Today also we will remember this and see what God would teach us today.

The context of this verse is many people gathered to hear from Lord Jesus Christ. They spent three days without even thinking about food. Now Jesus wanted them to have food before they leave. But there is no provision to feed that huge number of people and that too they were in a wilderness where no supply of resources is available.

There is one question from Jesus – “How many loaves you have?”. There is a very small number of loaves they could find to feed more than 5 thousands of people. This is an impossible situation to meet.

To apply this in our practical lives, the multitude of people sitting with Jesus to hear him continuously represents the fellowship with Jesus. That means in our lives the fellowship we have with the word of God and His Holy Spirit.

The situation of the multitude being hungry and the food is scarce can apply in our life in many situations. For example, you want to join your child in a competitive exam course but the financial burden is heavy. Or you wanted to support the work of God but the resources you have are limited. Or you have some need but you don’t have enough resources to meet. All these areas represents our genuine needs but lack of resources to meet them.

Now sitting in the rows represents having faith and getting ready to meet the need. That means, in the case of money required for the exam coaching, we will start filling the form and getting ready to pay on the deadline date. This represents sitting in the row and this requires faith.

I have a testimony in similar scenario. Today in my work two times it happened. But one I will share with you. I am a software engineer, and in the morning there was a big noise about an issue that was open since multiple days. The members from a designated team worked on it but could not resolve. Finally morning one senior architect asked a question, is there anyone who has access to do what I suggest? Immediately I responded, Yes I have and I will do. We sat together and the issue was resolved.

Here If I break the things to fit in my scenarios, the issue being open for many days represents my genuine need. The question the senior architect asked me was a call from God asking, “How many loaves you have or do you have loaves?”. I responding to that is sitting in the row. The rest is the grace of God being manifested and resolving the issue which is meeting the need.

Now the question is, “Do you have loaves and faith in Jesus?”.

Prayer

Thank you Jesus for your love and grace. Thank you for being with me and supporting me in my work and life’s various situations. Only because of your grace I am leading my life happily. Help me Lord to have good fellowship with you so that I can enjoy more grace in many practical situations in my life. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
