28-May-2024 – The justice of the king

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us – Isaiah 29:15
Consider a kingdom and its people. There will be many kinds of individuals: some obey the laws and the king’s instructions, while others secretly break the law.
For instance, a thief steals from his fellow citizens, but does so under the cover of night. A drug dealer conducts transactions in disguise, away from the authorities. Many other wrongdoings happen in secret, hidden from the king and the government.
However, the king appoints teams to uncover these secret activities. Once caught, the wrongdoers face severe punishment. This verse from Isaiah addresses those who plan and act outside the counsel of the Lord, believing their deeds are hidden in darkness.
Darkness symbolizes actions kept from public view. Why would anyone hide their actions? Typically, to avoid exposure and judgment. The verse highlights that these individuals think they can hide even from God. They forget that everything is visible to God, as clearly as daylight.
Just as a king uncovers and punishes hidden crimes, God warns that punishment awaits those who continue in secret sin.
In the New Testament era, God’s approach involves convicting us through the Holy Spirit until the second coming of Jesus Christ. We have the opportunity to repent and receive forgiveness.
However, once the Lord returns, those who persist in their hidden sins will face judgment.
Prayer
Dear loving Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for reminding me about the judgment for my secret sins. I also thank you for giving me another chance to correct myself. Help me to utilize the time while it is available. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen!
