28-Mar-2024 – By Faith (Logos) and Through Faith (Rhema)

Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. -Romans 3:30
This was the most difficult verse for me to understand. Till now, I was confused and did not understand. But today I definitely believe that God gave me the right interpretation through His Holy Spirit. But as we always do, we will understand the practical application of this verse and glorify God in our lives.
In this verse, there are two groups. One is the circumcised group and the other is uncircumcised group. The circumcised group was given law and the commandments of God. That means, God revealed to them, about His requirements.
The people in this circumcised group, by birth born into this group because they fall into the tribes came from Abraham, who first received the sign of the circumcision. So, the people by faith follow the Law that was given to them through Moses by the God.
Second group, which is the uncircumcision group did not have any relationship with God. But they were only told about the gospel of salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, from their sins. When they accept this gospel of truth, they become related to God as children. Then God justifies them as righteous, through their faith in Jesus Christ.
But the first group is justified by the adherences of the Law and commands given by God through Moses, by faith. That means, as the Jews believe that the Law and commandments were given by God, by faith they will be comply to them. This will make them justified by the Law.
Now, the second group is justified through their faith in Jesus Christ, as the propitiation of their sins. This faith then becomes a medium to do or accomplish in the life of a believer. As this group doesn’t have the Law and commandments as the Jews had, they will be led by the word of God given via the prophets, and revealed via Jesus and apostles, and the testimony of the Holy Spirit.
So to draw a difference, we can see that the first group has clear reasons, well written just like logos, which is the word of God. the second group has their faith in the finished work of Jesus as the only reason and from then onwards, it was the revealed truth as required by the Holy Spirit, just like the Rhema, which is again the word of God.
If we consider an example, as we are believers, we read the word of God. Now, when you read, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; -Romans 3:23”, if you are looking it as logos, you will only be checking your life and try to avoid sinful activities.
But when you look at the same word as Rhema word, you will ask the Holy Spirit, what is sin even after I became a believer and made righteous in Jesus blood? Then for example, Holy Spirit through various means teaches you that, “sin” means anything that comes between you and your God. That takes the place of God in your life is sin.
Immediately you will check your life, what is taking the place of God, that means, something getting more important than God. Through the help of Holy Spirit you will find that thing in your life and confess through your faith.
You will not stop there, you will wait for the glory of God to be manifested in your situation once you confessed, because your faith in Jesus enabled you to receive the glory of God in your situation.
That’s why those who believe without seeing are called blessed.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. -John 20:29
Prayer
Dear Lord, today you helped us to understand a difficult word. Help us to grasp the true meaning of it. In our life, logos is very important because, that gives us the foundation for our understanding about you and what you have prepared for us. But the Rhema word is much more important because, then only we can apply the word in our life to draw the testimony in our life to glorify you. Help us to receive the glory that you give in our life. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
