27-May-2024 – You King has plans to turn your negatives into positives

“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” – Luke 5:5

Consider a kingdom where a crop season is wasted because of pestilence. What does the king do? Does he leave things as they are? No, he consults wise men, seers, and knowledgeable persons to devise a plan to rescue his people from loss.

The verse we read today is well-known, but let’s consider Jesus as the king and Simon and his companions as the people of His kingdom.

Simon toiled all night, which is usually a profitable time for fishing. But that day, despite their efforts, they caught nothing. They were disheartened and had lost hope.

Digging deeper, we understand they were professional fishermen. Their livelihood depended on fishing. They might have planned to buy and arrange many things at home based on their earnings, but all their effort seemed wasted.

Then, Jesus told them to go into the deep and cast their nets. Jesus, being full of the Holy Spirit, knew everything. He had already devised a plan for His people. Simon obeyed Jesus’ command and cast his net.

Immediately, they caught so many fish that their nets couldn’t hold them all. This unexpected, multiplied profit came in a single moment.

This is the greatest quality of our heavenly King. He is mindful of us and always plans to give us the best in our lives so that we might glorify His name.

We may experience seasons of failure, loss, and hopelessness. But our King will not abandon us. He comes up with a plan to turn our sorrow into joy and our loss into gain.

Prayer:

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for reminding me today of how mindful You are of my life. You observe every aspect of my life. When I fail, You come with a plan to make me stand again. Help me to obey like Peter and witness Your glory in my life. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
