26-May-2024 – Your king fulfils His promise

And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her. – Matthew 14:9
In this verse, we see how an earthly king behaved in his court. Setting aside the character of Herod and considering him purely as a king, he was pleased with his daughter’s performance and promised to grant her whatever she asked.
Despite the wicked nature of her request, Herod felt compelled to fulfill his promise because of his position and the presence of his guests. He did not want to be seen as an unreliable king.
What can we learn from this? The word of a king is very powerful. When a king makes a promise, it is expected to be fulfilled. There is always the possibility for an earthly king to break his promise, thereby losing his reliability.
In contrast, our Heavenly Father is the righteous King. All His promises are “yes.” He not only makes promises but also enables us to receive them. He desires for His people to be blessed and flourish.
We belong to such a wonderful kingdom of God. We are fortunate to know our relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Our King is also righteous.
He does not succumb to our wickedness but knows our hearts and makes righteous judgments.Even if we ask wickedly, He does not encourage our wickedness.
Instead, He helps us recognize our faults and provides a way to reconcile and correct ourselves. This allows us to understand His will and desire good things for ourselves.
How blessed are we to have this wonderful King of kings in our lives?
