25-May-2024 – Your king always thinks about your welfare

“When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” – John 6:5
Before we dive into the Word, let’s consider the world’s ways. Imagine news breaks out about a group stranded in a flood-hit village. What does the government do?
Immediately, they arrange rescue operations, mobilize food supplies, and ensure everyone is safe, fed, and sheltered. Any responsible kingdom allocates resources and personnel for such urgent needs.
In the verse, many people came to Jesus, focusing solely on His teachings, without worrying about food. Jesus, knowing their situation, directed His disciples to provide food. This is the physical perspective.
Further in the chapter, we read:
“Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” – John 6:26-27
Jesus recognized the people’s effort to seek Him. He pointed out that they searched for Him for physical food. However, there is something far greater, the heavenly nourishment.
Jesus was essentially saying, “You saw my miracles, which are signs of the heaven. Seek me for that, not just for physical food. Physical nourishment is temporary and perishable, but the nourishment I provide through my body and blood is eternal, and this is why my Father sent me.”
Many could not understand this message as Jesus had not yet been crucified, and the significance of His body and blood was not yet revealed.
The message Jesus conveyed was that by focusing on miracles like healing the sick and raising the dead, people could recognize God’s power and connect with Him to understand the Kingdom of God.
Otherwise, they would be lost in the pursuit of earthly benefits, similar to being stranded in a flood-hit area.God, being the King, orchestrated a rescue operation through the daily preaching of His Word.
By hearing it, one can respond and be saved—not only unbelievers finding salvation but also believers stranded in carnal pursuits. Our God is a loving King who always works for the welfare and well-being of His people. All glory and honor be to our King.
