25-Mar-2024 – If you experience a negative surprise, let your faith be more strong

Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. -John 9:3
This verse is a very well known verse and many times we might have heard in our church sermons. There is a man who is blind from his birth. When the disciples saw him, they felt pity of his situation and asked Jesus, whose sin is the result of his blindness.
Then Jesus answers him saying, it is not the result of anyone’s sin but it happened to witness the glory of God on an appointed day. The rest of the story we know. But when we look at our life, when we look at someone in some situation like this, and when we feel pity of him, immediately we will question, if God is there, why his situation is like this?
But we must know that God does not do anything unjust. We inherit the sinful nature by birth and yet he opened up a way through Lord Jesus Christ for everyone who comes through him will be eternally saved from the hell fire.
But when we look at our present life on this earth, we may get though some situations where our expectations fails. Our logics would fail, and immediately we may feel that I might have sinned or something else might be wrong. But we fail to thank God and wait for the unveiling of the actual purpose of God.
I have an experience of this similar nature. I wanted to apply for a term life insurance and I applied with some provider. All the negotiations were over and I decided to pay till 15 years with a higher premium. But there is a medical test required before the policy is approved. As I don’t have any known issues, I gave my samples and after couple of days, I got a message that my application got rejected because I was diabetic and my HBA1C is 7.4.
This made me little disappointed. Then through the daily devotionals, God was speaking about faith. I was thinking and asking in my heart to God, Lord, as you are teaching about faith in this month, I don’t want to use any medication for diabetes. I will check next time and this diabetes values should come down to normal. Because then only it would be supernatural.
Some how later, the agent came with a new plan specifically tailored to diabetes patients. I went ahead and applied for that plan, because I thought something is better than nothing. For this one also I need to take a medical test. This test is just a 2 weeks after the first test where my HBA1C is 7.4.
Today the result came and now the HBA1C is 5.6 and glory to my God who can do the supernatural things when you believe. Even random blood sugar was 140 which should be less than 160. God did not stop there only, I got a communication yesterday saying that I need to pay almost 60% more of the agreed premium to approve my application. Then I told I don’t want to take this policy and cancel my application.
In all these events, first God used the situation to show me how He can move in my life when I have faith. There was an unexpected situation which changes my lifestyle completely if I am diabetic. Even if I think in another way, increased premium would lock me financially if something unforeseen needs are to be met in future.
In the second application, I am not actually diabetic. So there is a loss if I take that plan because no other benefits will be added there. So God not only protected me from loss but also showed my how he can lead me when I put my faith in him.
That’s why if you experience a negative surprise, let your faith be more strong!
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father thank you for your love and grace. Today you gave me another opportunity to introspect and know that you are good in my life. Your love and grace are inseparable in my life. If they are not there for a fraction of a second, my life is gone. Thank you for providing me your love and grace even though I am not worthy. Help me to realize this and live a life of thankfulness. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
