25-Jun-24 – Your Lord is knocking your door

I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance – Matthew 9:13
Jesus came to earth to call sinners to repentance. When He calls, whoever hears and responds will have the opportunity to have their sins forgiven.
And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. – Matthew 9:9
Jesus called Matthew to follow Him. Not only Matthew, but He also called all of His disciples to follow Him. When Jesus called them, they were very ordinary people, without the wisdom or knowledge of a good education, or a good reputation.
But when Jesus calls, we may not be in a perfect state in life, whether morally or spiritually. However, when Jesus calls us, our destiny is sure to be perfect. Because He came to call us to repentance, which leads to His forgiveness and a subsequent relationship with God the Father. This allows us to exercise and enjoy the authority in the name of Jesus Christ.
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. – Revelation 22:12
Here we see Jesus is coming again. But this time, not for sinners to repentance, but for the righteous to receive their reward. This means that from the time Jesus first came to the time He returns is the only period available for us to respond to His call.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. – Revelation 3:20
Our compassionate Lord is standing at the door, knocking and waiting for you to respond. Can you hear His knocking? If you open the door, despite your shortcomings, issues, or sinful mistakes, He will come in and enable you to repent. He will make you worthy to receive His forgiveness, which translates you from darkness to glorious light.
Yesterday, I was counting the days since I was born. Considering we have 365 days per year on average, if we live 100 years by the grace of God, we can live on this earth for only 36,500 days. On this earth, we will only reach a considerable maturity to think and make decisions at an average age of 25 years. This means for the first 9,125 days, we may not be able to fully understand God. So, we are left with 27,375 days to hear His voice. Considering 100 years is a very long time, we realistically have around 20,000 conscious days on this earth.
You know time runs and runs, and these days it is running faster. Will you respond to your Lord’s call before the time is up?
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for reminding me today about the call for repentance. Thank You for still giving me the time to respond to Your call, so that I can repent and seek forgiveness in the areas where I have failed. Help me, Lord, not to miss this opportunity. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
