25-Jan-2024 – Spiritual Growth needs truth to be received

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit… since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth – Colossians 1:5-6
In this verse we can understand that when we hear the word of God it is only sown in the heart as a seed. But when it germinates? When we receive the truth of that word and the grace hidden in that truth. Then our life starts absorbing the nutrition of the truth and grace of God and grows to bring forth the fruit of the glory of God in our lives.
For example, if we take a real seed, when we sow it in the ground, immediately it will not sprung up, it must receive the work of the ground, water and sunlight and then the outer layer must be broken to receive the nutrition provided by the ground. Then only it grows.
Now we hear Jesus Christ paid it all and we accept the truth that we are now Christians. But the truth is, he paid it all and the bondage of the sin is broken which means, anything that comes as a package of sin should not work in our lives. Death, guilt, loss, defeat, diseases are also the package of sin. Now these should not rule our life if we really receive the truth.
What is receiving as truth? Believing the word and aligning our work, behaviour and environment to that truth. Then the growth starts in spirit and one day that would be matured to bring glory to the name of our God.
Anything that comes against to receive the truth is like the rocky ground or thorny ground. We need to remove those obstacles to receive the complete truth of the word of God.
May God help us to understand and prepare ourselves to live upto the potential we have in Christ, Amen.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for the things you taught today. The word teaches us many of your aspects and characteristics. But because of the advancement of technology, our hearts are not ready to receive the truth as it is. Help us to overcome and submit to thy truth. We pray in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
