22-Jul-2024 – Display the Neginoth Attitude

“God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us.” – Psalms 67:1
This verse is taken from the Aaronic blessing as ordained by the LORD through Moses (Numbers 6:24-26).
The psalm begins with “To the chief Musician on Neginoth,” a stringed instrument like a harp or lyre. During difficult situations, leaders would sing psalms like this to encourage the people of Israel or to proclaim their stance before their enemies.
In this psalm, the ordained blessing of God is invoked, as His way and salvation are known to all nations in their difficult situation.
“God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.” – Psalms 67:7
Here, we see that the Israelites are facing fearful situations, but they remember God’s blessing and take shelter in His promises.
In our lives, we face difficulties, but they are not meant to destroy us. David, facing Goliath, and Shadrak, Meshak, and Abednego, facing the king’s accusations, are perfect examples. They didn’t boast about their strength, wisdom, or experience but about their God. When we face similar situations, our source of strength and confidence is our LORD. When we boldly declare His greatness in the face of difficulty, that is a song on Neginoth. I call this as a Neginoth attitude.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father,
Thank you for your love and grace. Teach me to have a Neginoth attitude – to stand boldly in difficult situations and declare your greatness, receiving deliverance and victory in my life. I thank you in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.
