22-Jan-2024 – God sows righteousness and we will reap salvation

let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created – Isaiah 45:8
Here in this verse God is comparing the salvation to the fruit and the righteousness to the seed which is springing up from the earth.
We can understand from this verse the sequence of righteousness and salvation. First the righteousness comes and it grows and brings forth salvation which is the rest.
If we remember the words God spoke to Abraham about Sodom and Gomorra-
And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes – Genesis 18:26
Here God is searching for the righteousness in the city but it is not found. That’s why salvation was not found for Sodom and Gomorra.
Now what about us? We all are sinners falling short of the glory of God. But our gracious God has sown in us, the seed of righteousness through the sacrifice of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference – Romans 3:22
Righteousness for us by faith is Jesus is like a seed planted in our life by God. The fruit it brings is the salvation. But as it was seed, it needs care, rocks to be removed and thistles to be removed. Now it makes sense when we read –
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling – Philippians 2:12
That means work out to reap the fruit of your righteousness. How to workout?
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses – 1 Timothy 6:11-12
How loving is our God, before Jesus we earn the righteous by deeds to qualify for the salvation of God. Now we receive the righteousness by faith and only we need to keep it safe until we reap the fruit of salvation. Praises be to the God.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for teaching today about the righteousness being a seed and the salvation being the fruit. Because I cannot produce righteousness works by my own, you gave me righteousness as a free gift by the faith in Jesus Christ and kept your Holy Spirit within me to lead me and guide me to nurture the righteousness to produce the salvation. I thank you with my whole heart. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
