21-Jun-2024 – God communicates until you respond

I Made Known That Which Shall Surely Be – Hosea 5:9
Yesterday, God reminded us of His nature of speaking to us. Today, He stresses once more that He definitely and surely lets us know about the things that are going to happen.
In our technologically advanced world, there is a constant quest in the hearts and minds of all human beings: “What happens next? What happens in the future?” Whether it is politics, the economy, or society, people are in the business of predicting what comes next and what happens next.
“Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.” – Hosea 5:1
Always and consistently, when there is an issue, God sends His word to the appointed leaders of the congregation. In the Old Testament, it was the priests and prophets. In the New Testament, it could be the pastor, evangelist, prophet, or any other man of God. God sends His word through these people to us regarding the point of concern.
Obviously, we are rebellious by nature and negligent by habit. We often fail to respond to the call of God. Then God takes the next step.
“Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.” – Hosea 5:11
God tells the consequences, and when we don’t respond, He allows those consequences to hit us. This is so that we may remember the words of God and the reason for the oppression and turn back to Him.
“I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.” – Hosea 5:15
Now, God waits for our acknowledgment and cry for forgiveness. God knows His children will definitely cry for His help. But He also knows that once the issues are settled, they may go astray again.
“Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.” – Hosea 6:1
“O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.” – Hosea 6:4
But still, God will not leave us. He will not stop speaking to us because He is the God of compassion, love, grace, and mercy.
“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” – Hosea 6:6
Even in our modern times, God remains the same. He always communicates with us. Today, He taught us the step-by-step sequence of His communication when we go astray.
Even though God ultimately recovers us by His grace, why experience His wrath, go through difficult times, and delay the blessings in our lives? If we obey the voice of God, we can enjoy the timely prepared blessings for every occasion and be thankful to Him.
Prayer
Dear loving Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for teaching me again today about Your character of communicating with Your children. Help me, Lord, to hear when You speak to me. Help me to respond with fear and reverence. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
