19-Sep-2024 – Sometimes you need to step forward by faith

“And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.” – Exodus 14:15

In our daily lives, we often find ourselves facing tough situations where we need a way forward. We might pray and look for guidance, but today, God speaks to us as He did to Moses: “Why are you looking at me? Why are you wasting time in prayer? Why are you wasting time in rituals? Go forward and do your work.”

*As a software engineer, I faced a challenge when I had to design a solution in an area I didn’t know much about. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, I trusted that God was with me. I recognized the opportunity He provided and how all others around by came together. By taking action, I saw how the solution came together in a wonderful way*

This principle applies to many areas of our lives. For example, in our families, we often seek advice from relatives or friends, especially during difficult times. Sometimes, we wait for someone to tell us what to do. But like Moses stepping into the water by faith, we need to trust God and move forward, even if it feels uncertain.

In the context of finances, many people worry about making ends meet or saving for the future. We might pray for a solution, but sometimes God wants us to take action, like budgeting wisely or exploring new job opportunities. Just as the Israelites, under Joshua’s leadership, stepped into the Jordan River and saw the waters part, we can find God’s guidance when we act in faith:

“And it came to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests that bare the ark of the Lord… shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off.” – Joshua-3:13

When David faced Goliath, he didn’t waste time on rituals. He trusted in God’s strength and acted:

“I have slain both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them.” – 1 Samuel- 17:36.

This teaches us that when we face challenges, whether at work or in our personal lives, trusting God and taking action is crucial.

We can also think about Daniel in the lion’s den and the friends in the fiery furnace. In moments of crisis, these stories remind us that urgent action is often needed. While prayer and rituals are important, there are times when we must step forward and act.

As we reflect on these stories, let’s remember that knowing what God has done in the past helps us trust Him today. It’s about understanding His character and recognizing His love for us.

Prayer

My dear loving Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing this truth to us today about the importance of taking action in difficult situations. Help us remember what You have done in the past, understand who You are, and know that You love us and will not abandon us. Thank You for Your promises. Help us to take faithful actions and show everyone how faithful and loving You are. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
