but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed – Luke 7:7

This is a well known portion even from the Sunday school times. The centurion was a good man he took care of his servants with compassion. He also helped the Jews by building a synagogue to worship the God.

There was a situation happened in the life of one his beloved servants. He was critically ill unto death. Then the centurion must have tried to find a way first with the known doctors and others. During that time, he heard about Jesus was healing the sick.

He sent the elders of the synagogue to request Jesus to come to his house and heal his servant. But once Jesus came to his house, the centurion did not come out to meet Jesus, but also asked him to just a word to heal his servant.

Here he explains his reasoning also. Firstly, he felt that he is not worthy to show his face to Jesus. Secondly, he acknowledged the authority of Jesus. To put in clear words, first he confessed his unworthiness and then he acknowledged the authority of Jesus.

This man was not a Jew but a ruler over them. Still he could understand the authority Jesus had. This is a very important spiritual principle.

In our lives, we will go through various incidents and circumstances which are very difficult or something that will break the normal course of life. But when you know who is on your side, then you can decide either to stand strong or to cry and perish under the situation.

Knowing what your God can do is the most important aspect of a believer’s faith. Unless we know what our God can do, we cannot believe him. Just as a ritual we will share the prayer requests like a lottery and wait if we are lucky to get the lottery.

No our God is living God and loving God. He is all knowing, all seeing and all powerful God. He is your creator, provider and protector. He will never leave you nor abandon you.

When you confess your situation with God in your current circumstance, and acknowledge what God can do, that means, worship him. Worship is nothing but declaring the truth about God and you agree and submit to that truth before him.

When we say worship, generally we remember a music background or a pattern of words as if we are flattering God. No that is not worship, but ritual. Worship is expressing openly by acknowledging, in your genuinely oppressing situation, what you are believing that God can do, why you believe that He will do?

This becomes a worship in truth that you know and in spirit as you are submitting to the revelation of God’s strength and love in your situation. Your faith fuelled by true worship can break any strong wall.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for reminding me about the true worship which should be genuine in my situation by acknowledging your part in my life. How I believe and why I believe, when I openly declare it, my salvation in my situation will be manifested. Thank you for teaching this supernatural way of changing the outcomes in my life. Help me to stand on this truth in my situations. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
