17-Jul-2024 – Let your Belief lead Someone else to Believe

“And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.”
— Matthew 9:2
We might have meditated on this verse many times, but today, let us submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit to extract its deeper meaning according to our life’s situations.
Here we see they brought a man sick of the palsy. This man and the people who brought him lived in the same city as Jesus. This place once was in the darkness of not knowing God, but once Jesus settled there, they saw a bright light.
“The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.”
— Matthew 4:16
The man was suffering from palsy or paralysis. People suffering from this disease cannot move their body parts. Meditating deeper, their mind is willing to move or do something, but their body is not cooperating.
The people who brought him to Jesus were normal people. That means, if they have a desire, their body will cooperate, and there will be a manifestation of their desire.
The place where they lived was in darkness until Jesus came. Jesus was the light, and indeed, He was the light. The people who saw and heard about the miracles of Jesus in and around their city believed what Jesus could do.
A person in darkness will look unto light and will desire to go near it only when he understands that he is in darkness. If someone is stranded in darkness and cannot come out because he is lost, if others see him, they will first realize he is in darkness and cannot come out on his own. Then, they will offer help by bringing a lamp to give him light.
Here, the people brought this man to the light, which is the Lord Jesus Christ.
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
— John 1:4
The light was life. The darkness was death. The journey from darkness to light can only begin when we understand we are in darkness. The transformation from death to life can only begin when we realize we are dead.
One more aspect of this man’s life: When the people around him took him to Jesus, he could not object because he could not move. He did not resist going to Jesus. If he had resisted somehow, he could have remained in that pathetic condition forever.
In our lives, there could be many dark situations. Darkness is a confusion-filled situation: no clarity, no understanding, no control, no visible help, not in a position to think, recognize, or do anything. Darkness is like bondage.
But there are people who were once in that darkness and experienced the light in their lives when they came to Jesus Christ. Because they were also suffering similar situations before or witnessed someone else like that, they come forward to help lead others into the light.
Today, many men of God, amidst mocking, persecutions, troubles, and difficulties, are extending help to those suffering from the bondage of sin, which has become like palsy. They do it because they believe. Because of their belief, that person suffering is forgiven.
In the end times, God reminds us to believe in Him and let that belief help someone else receive their salvation.
Prayer:
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching us today about the importance of believing and using that belief to help others believe. Help us to take this seriously. Teach us through your Holy Spirit. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
