17-Apr-2024 – Did God give you a talent? use it, lest you loose it

For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. -Luke 19:26

Today we are publishing another wonderful work of God in our lives that encourages us to have zeal towards the work of God. Above verse and the context is a well known portion for us.

A rich ruler gave his ten servants, one pound each, and went abroad. While going he said to them, “occupy till I come”. That means, whatever business the ruler was taking care of, now it is the responsibility of these servants.

One guy used the pound and made it 10 pounds and second guy made 5 pounds. The ruler appreciated both of these servants. But the third guy did not use the pound to gain any thing but told negative things about the ruler. But let us only focus on, the third one did not use the pound given to him.

If we observe the attitude of the ruler, he did not mind how much they earned with that pound. But he was happy to know that they used whatever that was given to them. When he said “occupy till I come”, he meant to get into his shoes and work like him.

I remember the words of Jesus here, “I must be about my Father’s business? – Luke 2:49”. Jesus Christ came to this world in the form of a servant according to Philippians 2:6-8. Father gave him three and half years time to invest. Jesus worked only to fulfil the will of His Father. He did not deny anyone whom His Father sent. He not only worked but created a growing body called church or the bride.

Now for us, God according to His grace, gave many spiritual gifts, opportunities to carry on the responsibilities given to us. God wanted us to utilise them. For example, like the ruler gave everyone a pound each, our Lord gave everyone of us “faith”.

Now using that faith, are we gaining hope? are we gaining the experience based knowledge of God? are we proclaiming the prophetic words of God? are we discerning and proclaiming the truths of God, as we receive through Holy Spirit? Or just we say we have faith but not using it except to say it to people?

That’s why God clearly told through James – “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. -James 2:17”. This means, if you do not use your faith in your daily circumstances, you cannot produce the works out of your faith to demonstrate it. If you could produce your faithful works, God blesses you with more spiritual gifts and authority over many!

So today we publish, “Did God give you a talent? use it, lest you loose it”
