14-Jan-2024 – Plough your ground
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them – Matthew 13:7
If we carefully observe this word, when the seeds were sown, there only thorns which are not significant. But once the seeds are sown, along with the seeds these thorns grown as bushes. Slowly they outgrown the plants that were sprung up from the seeds. Because of that the plants could not bear fruit.
If we understand the lesson from this verse, every new year or whenever the word of God directly speaks to us, we will take initiative to set somethings right. And we will start to act as a small beginning as well. But in our heart there are things of this world and desires of flesh. They may not be so significant at the time you took a resolution. But once you started acting upon your resolution, slowly slowly they desires and pleasures and worldly affairs starts to grow and eventually they will be priority than your resolution. This kills the zeal to work towards it, the seed of your resolution stops in between and yields to the domination of your hearts unhealthy, unworthy and untimely emotions, desires, reasonings, affairs etc.
When we look at the ground for sowing seeds again, before sowing, there is a preparation phase. In that phase, you will look for stones, smaller significant weeds etc. You will use plough to prepare the ground. For our life, the plough is the word of God only.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12
Before starting to work on anything for God, it is very important to wait in prayer and inquire with God to find any probable obstacles and what needs to be changed. Our God is living God. He has ears to hear and eyes to see and a heart to understand our situations and respond as a loving Father.
Even if you fail today in the course of changing your life for good for the glory of God, don’t worry or don’t be discouraged of your failures. Come to the word again, ask God in prayer. He will talk to your through His word either in your meditation, or from the church services, or in a prayer meeting or even via the message you see in YouTube or Whatsapp status or even from a handbill that’s on the road. He loves you and me and he died to make us to live. Let’s get back to the father and with help of the word, lets prepare our ground to make the sown seeds fruitful.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for teaching an important aspect of the growth of a seed. In my life there are many thorn which out grown my desire for you. Many things I started were overcame by these thorn like things of my flesh and mind. Thank you for reminding me once more that you word is waiting for me to use it to plough my heart. You are always waiting for me without abandoning me. Thank you for your love dear Father, I thank you and submit my prayer in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
