14-04-2024 – Do you have desire to submit to the leading of God?
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. -Acts 8:35
In this portion we can witness a divine working to save a soul or to help a person required in a situation. We see two people in this portion and they are Philip and the Eunuch of great authority.
These two people are having two different background, geographically far from each other and they did not meet each other before. The Eunuch was reading the book of Isaiah during his return journey. But he could not understand. But the God who was seeing him, wanted to help him. But God prepared Philip for the help.
If we do a careful analysis on how God works in our lives. The Eunuch came to worship God to Jerusalem. Philip was in the Jerusalem doing God’s work. God did not make them to meet i the Jerusalem but asked Philip to go towards the road to Gaza from Jerusalem. God knows that the Eunuch has to return on the same way.
One more observation is, the Eunuch was returning on his chariot which can go with an average speed of 25kms per hour. As both are in Jerusalem, if Philip started at the same time as the Eunuch, he could not have met him. That means; it is obvious that God asked Philip to go to Gaza road even before the Eunuch started from Jerusalem. God also knew that Eunuch will read this book and will get into a confused state. That’s why he prepared Philip even before that and kept him ready to meet him.
One key point here which is very much important is the Eunuch was worshipping God and reading the book on his chariot. This indicates his passion, and desire to know more about God. In our lives also, when we have a desire for God and to know the things of God, He will definitely arrange everything to fall in place.
As a servant of God, Philip did not ask why God wanted him to go towards that road. The Eunuch also did not ask Philip, who are you to ask me whether I understand what I read or not. Also he did not hesitate when he has to be Baptised.
Now the question for us today is, “Do you have desire to submit to the leading of God?”. If we have this desire, sometimes we may help some one who is in need. Sometimes we will receive the required help arranged by God.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thanks a lot for your love and grace. Thank you for your detailed care towards our needs whether they are spiritual or physical. You know what we need and you know when and how to meet our needs. When we know this truth, we would never worry for anything in our life. Help me to develop this trust in you and submit to your leading. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ Amen!
