13-Jul-2024 – Apply the principle of believing Him

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. -Mark 9:23

This is a very powerful key given by our LORD to us. The Christian faith is based on this principle. Even our salvation is based on this principle. When we believed that our LORD Jesus Christ paid the price on the cross for our sins, as per the promise of God, our sins were forgiven. This is the first manifestation of this powerful principle.

Once we start our lives as believers, there is an emotional urge to read the word of God, to be in the gatherings of believers, and to be recognized as a believer. However, after some time, once our mind is saturated, our old self, habits, sins, and weaknesses knock on our door and slowly drag us back to the sinful life.

At this time, we become guilty. We question our initial response to the gospel. Did we really get born again? Will God love me? Am I lost forever? These questions bother us. But our gracious LORD knows that we are weak and we are flesh. That’s why He became our advocate.

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: -1 John 2:1

Think about this scenario. You did a mistake and that invited summons from the court. What would you do? You would take the help of a lawyer. He will understand your case and try his best to help you either get out of that problem or get reduced punishment, right?

Now, when your guilty feeling is a big burden on you, and if you realize that the LORD is your advocate, then you should first go to Him and tell Him what happened. Explain how you fell into the trap and your understanding of your problem. Seek forgiveness and wait for Him.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. -1 John 1:9

When you confess your sins, shortcomings, and trespasses, the LORD will forgive you and cleanse you from the effect of the sin you committed. For example, when you fall into a muddy puddle with a white shirt, the shirt becomes dirty. But when you use detergent and wash it thoroughly, all the stains will go off. The dirty shirt no one will use, but the washed one will be used. Even though people knew it was once dirty, when it is washed, they will be interested to use it.

In the same way, when we sin, we become spiritually dirty. God cannot use us for His purposes, and God cannot send answers to our prayers. But when we confess by believing the word of God, all our sinfulness is cleansed. That means God can use us for His purposes, and our prayers will get answers too.

This is the second most important manifestation of the “if you can believe” principle. This scenario occurs in life until we leave this earth. In your situation, believing the LORD and His words is the best possible strategy to live a peaceful and victorious life.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for reminding me about the importance of believing in you in every situation. Thank you for the scenarios you reminded me of. Help me to apply them in my practical life and set everything right by faith and believing in you and your word. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
