13-Jan-2024 – Your aspiration needs zeal to become an accomplishment

And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. -Matthew 13:6

In this verse we see the condition of the seed that has grown to be a plant. It has grown on a rocky ground, where moisture is not present. And there came a day when the sun is hot up there. It was written, “ it was withered because it had no root”.

If we observe this condition, the ground was rocky the seed became a plant but when difficult time came, it was not able to withstand because of an important member called “root” is not there. In proper words, the roots cannot get the essense of the ground because of the rocks. The plant has desire to survive but no “root” connection with the ground that has water and nutrients for it to survive in that bad condition.

The root has two high level and obvious purposes one is to get the water and nutrients for the plant and the second is to give the plant grip to stand. For us the believers, the word of God is the ground. The rocks on the ground as we learnt previously represent the lack of zeal. The roots represent the desire or aspirations. Like even if the plant has roots, if they cannot penetrate into the ground, they cannot stand and survive. Or even the ground is good but the seed does not sprung up and no roots come out, then also no growth.

For our spiritual growth in the Word of God, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and effective pursuit of the revealed purposes of God, as well as for success in our daily personal needs and careers, we require two crucial ingredients: the desire or aspiration and the zeal to fuel that aspiration into accomplishment. May God help us to have both the desire and zeal to stand strong and grow strong for HIs glory.

Prayer

Dear Loving heavenly Father, thank you for teaching me today about important aspects of growth. I need both desire and zeal to grow stronger. Lord I confess that most of that time, I lack the zeal. I was failing to turn my desires into accomplishments. Help me in this area and renew my zeal to live for you. Help me to take first steps towards kindling the zeal in me. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
