12-Sep-2024 – What are you believing about your God?

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. – Romans 4:3
Today, we will meditate on the way God has opened for humans to be righteous before Him: by believing in Him. This means that, regardless of the situation, if God says something, we must believe it, and that belief makes us righteous before Him. Righteousness is not something declared after deeds, but rather an attitude and alignment in the heart with the spoken and revealed Word of God.
In this chapter, Abraham’s faith is referenced to convey this truth. If we look at Abraham’s situation, he received God’s promise of immeasurable offspring and was told that nations would come from him. Yet, at that time, Abraham did not even have a single child. On one hand, his physical body had become weak and incapable of natural reproduction. But still, he believed that God could do anything.
As it is written, ‘I have made thee a father of many nations,’ before Him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. – Romans 4:17
Abraham did not place his belief in his physical condition or abilities but in the nature of God. He believed that God could revive the dead and call things that did not exist into being. He trusted this truth and believed.
Not only Abraham, but also David, when Goliath was mocking the army of Israel, believed that the God who saved him from the mouth of the lion and the bear could easily save him from Goliath. Moreover, David saw the army of Israel as the army of God, believing that Israel was chosen by God. Even when he sinned with Bathsheba, he believed that the only place he could go in his wretched state was the presence of God. When he sinned by taking a census, once again, he was willing to fall into the hands of God rather than anyone else.
Joseph, Moses, David, Daniel and his friends, and everyone who believed and trusted God in whatever circumstance they were in, received the manifestation of God’s nature. This means that whatever they believed about God, they received.
Abraham believed in the revival of the dead and that God could call things that did not exist into being, and he received it. Joseph believed that his dream was given by God, and he received it. David believed victory was given by God, and he received it. Daniel believed that God reveals mysteries, and he received it. Solomon believed that God is the source of wisdom, and he received it. Even Ahaz, who was the worst king, believed that by sincere fasting, God would show mercy, and he received it.
So today, God is encouraging you to believe in Him based on the truth you understand about Him. Remember the woman who suffered from an issue of blood for twelve years. She believed that by touching the hem of Jesus’ garment, she could be healed, and she received it. Until then, no one had tried that, but after her, many people touched Jesus and were healed.
God is looking for your faith and trust in Him. If you understand His love for you, you will know what He can do for you, and you will enter His presence by believing in Him in your situation.
Prayer
Dear loving Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for reminding us today about another aspect of the way You opened for us in the form of “believing in You.” In our situations, help us to trust in You. Whether it is for a breakthrough, wisdom, an idea, or victory—whatever our situation—let us trust in Your revealed Word and truth. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!
