12-Mar-2024 – Faith enables you to proclaim your authority in the name of Jesus

Published by Sunil Binkam on

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. -Matthew 18:19

Here Jesus was telling the disciples the authority that was given to them. It’s not only for them, but to everyone who believes that, Jesus is the Son of God, and he was sent to redeem us from our sins, through his blood which was shed on the cross of Calvary.

In this verse, Jesus did not differentiate what things they need to bind or what things they need to loose. But whatever they do in the name of Jesus, it will happen. Doing something in Jesus name is, equivalent to using the authority Jesus has and displaying it in the situation.

To understand this, we can think of an example. Consider a President or a Prime minister of a country. If they issue a letter with their signature and stamp, the letter carries an authority. To whomever it concerns, they must do according to the content of the letter.

In the same way, when Jesus gives the authority he declares in the spiritual realm like this, “this person who is using my name and it’s authority, is given permission to use it. Because he believes in the work of the cross, and my Lordship over him. He is my faithful follower and wherever he uses my name according to the will of the Father, that situation, things or anything must obey to the authority of my name”.

That’s why many great men of God practiced and taught about the power in the name of Jesus Christ. It’s not to hear in the church during Sunday’s but, to use it in our day to day life.

We often get into a situation where we want to accomplish something in the job, to support the work of God in our local assemblies, to support someone in their life, to build a house, to start a business, to get healed from some health issue, to get out the debts and many like this.

If we bind the negative things in our situation in the name of Jesus, with genuine and true faith, Jesus according to His word, takes the responsibility of changing the situations accordingly. If we declare something positive in the situations with genuine faith and guidance of God, Jesus takes the responsibility of fulfilling it.

What to ask and what not to ask is led by the Spirit. Jesus is our example. He could have really commanded the rocks to become the bread and they would have turned also into bread. But he never forgets that, any action he does, must bring glory to God.

This is the same system for us. Whatever we desire, if it brings glory to God, definitely we need to ask him in the name of Jesus. But when we ask him, we need to ask in fulness of faith. When you know who is your God, what he can do for you and what he will do for you, you will keep your faith in him only.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching me about the power I have in the name of Jesus. In my day to day life, in every juncture, I can use the power in the name of Jesus to change my situations to glorify your name in and through my life. Help me Lord to understand this truth and experience breakthrough in my situations and glorify your name. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
