11-Sep-2024 – Is your situation gone out of your hands?

And behold, they brought to Him a man
– Matthew 9:2
Today, I have intentionally not provided the complete reference of Matthew 9:2. The Holy Spirit gave me the burden to stop there because God is speaking about a very important way that He opened for us through Jesus Christ.
And behold, they brought to Him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed
– Matthew 9:2
In this first scenario, the man brought to Jesus was paralyzed, meaning he couldn’t move or control the paralyzed part of his body. Applying this to our daily lives, while we may not be physically paralyzed, there are situations where we lose control over things when we should have control, which is equivalent to a “paralyzed moment.” For example, when you’re working on an important assignment, and your health deteriorates severely, you can no longer progress on the assignment. We can say that the work is “paralyzed” because it cannot move forward.
While He spoke these things to them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand upon her, and she will live.”
– Matthew 9:18
In this second scenario, we see that the daughter of a certain ruler had died while he was speaking to Jesus. Since she had died, everything she was supposed to do was now completely impossible. If we apply this to our daily lives, sometimes we lose opportunities—whether career opportunities, business opportunities, or even marriage proposals. Frequently missed opportunities can create a sense that they are gone forever.
In both scenarios, they did only one thing: they approached Jesus Christ with faith. In the first case, the people who carried the paralyzed man couldn’t even find a way to reach Jesus, so they made a way through the roof of the house. Obviously, the house didn’t belong to them. When you are desperate for a solution and realize the answer lies with Jesus, doors will open in unexpected ways.
In the second case, the ruler knew his daughter was dead, yet he believed that Jesus could raise her from the dead. Practically speaking, this was impossible. People around him, hearing his request, might have felt sorry for him but would certainly have declared that his daughter was a closed chapter. However, his determination and strong faith made the impossible possible.
In our daily situations—whether things are “paralyzed,” meaning we’ve lost control, or “dead,” meaning they are completely beyond our reach—the way to restore them is by bringing our problems to Jesus Christ. He is the answer and solution to everything for a believer.
Prayer
Dear loving Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your grace. Thank You for teaching me today about an important aspect of life—bringing all my problems to You, especially the situations where I’ve lost control or where things seem completely out of my hands. Help me to remember that You have the solution for every problem, and You are the solution. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!
