11-Apr-2024 – If you correct your mistake, God will help you to accomplish

Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps. -1 Chronicles 15:28

This portion is very encouraging portion, and it works as a catalyst to build a similar love and reverence towards God, just like David. In previous chapters, David tried to bring the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem. But God’s wrath was kindled because of the unprepared act of Uzza.

This made David confused and scared and the ark was kept in the house of Obededom. After sometime, David heard how Obededom was blessed because of the presence of the ark of Covenant in his house.

This cleared the confusion in the mind of David and through the God given wisdom, he could understand the root cause of previous failure. He confessed that with the elders of the Levites. The root cause of the wrath of God was, the Levites were not sanctified.

And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it. For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order. -1 Chronicles 15:12-13

This verse highlights an important aspect in the spiritual journey of a believer. Indeed, when the ark of the covenant was touched or handled by Philistines, they were not harmed. The Israelites thought it would be fine for them also.

But God forgave Philistines, because they don’t know how to deal with the things of God. But Israelites were not like that. They were taught about the things of God, how to handle the ark of covenant.

God works today also in the same way. As long as we are unaware of the way how God deals in a situation, God forgives and gives chances. But once you are taught and made known, God expects you to follow diligently.

When David understood this and gathered the Levites and prepared them for this purpose and then God was pleased and cooperated with Levites and the people to bring the ark with joyful shoutings.

If you look at David, he forgot that he was a king. But for David, before God, he was nothing. David knew from where he came from, who brought him. In the presence of that God who brought him from a shepherd life to this royal life, David was ready to become nothing.

The key differentiator in the life of David is, he too did mistakes just like us. But he did never let his pride or ego hinder to seek the forgiveness of God and he immediately prepared himself to set it right with God.

This very nature of David made God to give a testimony about him saying, “he is of my own heart”.

Today what are we publishing? Have a heart ready to set your mistakes right when God reveals to you. You will shout with joy for the blessings of God in your life.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching me today from the life of David. Being a human being influenced by the flesh and the world, I am prone to do mistakes. But when you reveal my mistakes, if I am ready to set them right, my life will be a blessed life. Help me Lord to follow this principle in my life. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
