10-Apr-2024 – Church is the wonderful work of God in the life of a believer

… the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. -1 Timothy 3:15

Today we are publishing the wonderful work of God, which is the Church. The purpose of a church is very important in a believer’s life. In current generation, when we see in the world, there are many churches having many different doctrines, even though they use the same word of God in the Bible.

But as per the word of God, knowing the importance of the church in a believer’s life is very important to stay strong in this evil generation. First of all, what is church? Bible defines this very clearly and we all know that.

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. -Ephesians 1:22-23

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. -Colossians 1:18

The church is the body of Christ and Christ is the head of the church. If we look at 1 Corinthians 12:27 –

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. -1 Corinthians 12:27

So we can clearly understand that we believers are the body of Christ and called a church. A church is nothing but a gathering, assembly or congregation. That’s why Lord Jesus told –

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. -Matthew 18:20

Now, another important aspect of the church in the life of believers is –

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. -1 Corinthians 12:27-28

God appointed apostles, prophets, teachers, miracle workers, healers, helpers, governors, and speakers in difference tongues, for the edification and nurturing of the believers.

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: -Ephesians 4:11-13

The ultimate goal of this setup by God is to bring us into the fulness of the image of Jesus Christ. That means, the original image of God in which Adam was created.

In a church ultimate head is Jesus Christ and he operates in the church through the word of God and the Holy Spirit. But in the physical realm the responsibility of the spiritual feeding and upbringing to the shepherds.

We are not going to deeply study about various office in the church, but every office was given with a specific gift of operation but for the edification and growth of a believer.

For example, I am associated in a church. I am having my personal life with various experiences and struggles. When I attend any sermon in the church, God knowing my situation, uses the shepherd, teacher, preacher or the elders he send the word for our situation and he will motivate other believers to pray for us. In parallel the Holy Spirit works in us and in the church to make us to receive the word and apply in our situation by faith.

Sometimes, God uses prophets to reveal the future events to revive us and strengthen us in our current situation. Also if you remember Ephesians 1:22-23, the church is the fulness of the Lord Jesus Christ. And Jesus Christ is the fullness of the glory of the invisible God.

This is a powerful revelation – “How Jesus Christ manifested the glory of God on this earth, the church is created by the Lord to manifest the glory of Jesus Christ”. That means, church can do supernatural things like Jesus Christ.

If you can receive the revelation – “when two of you agree on something in the name of Jesus, it will happen”. Church represents the unity and the power of unity in the triune God. To put it in a different way, a gathering of the true believers of Jesus Christ, can display the glory of God, just like Jesus Christ!

I urge you to meditate on the subject of Church in your personal meditation and live up to the potential given and ordained according to the will of God! If God willing, I will prayerfully gather various important aspects of Church and make it available for your reference.

Prayer

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your wonderful provision of Church. Church is not a building, denomination or a cult but the gathering of true believers of Jesus Christ. Thank you for the church you added me to. Bless my church and the believers in it. I pray for my shepherd as you ordained him. Help me to understand, cooperate and leverage this wonderful and supernatural provision of church in my life. I pray in the name of my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
