08-Mar-2024 – Your faith is the only way to use the power in the name of Jesus
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them. -Mark 6:13.
This portion is a very encouraging portion. When I was studying my engineering final year we had to submit a final project to complete our bachelors degree. For those who got an internship in good companies to do a project, was very happy because they will have a hands-on experience in a real world scenario.
Here also, it was a super excited moment for the disciples. Till then they saw what Jesus did and they were filled with awe. Now they are also enabled to perform the same things as Jesus did. In the example I told about my engineering days, to get an internship opportunity, you must have good academic record.
In the case of the disciples also, there is a requirement. That is, following Jesus having complete faith in him.
And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; -Mark 6:7
In this verse the assignment seems very simple. But if you carefully observe, Jesus gave them “power” over unclean spirits. Is this power physical power? To understand this, lets us see the report from the seventy disciples,
And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. -Luke 10:17
The twelve, the seventy and now we all have this great power with us, and in us through our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. This is not physical power but the power of the name of Jesus Christ which is above the spiritual realm and the physical realm.
But to experience and operate with this power, we must have faith in the name and person called, “Jesus Christ”. Having faith in his name is trusting his authority over the physical and spiritual realms.
We must be very careful, because it is not like we see in superman movies where you can deceive a super hero and get his power to use it as per your will. This power is given as part of the inheritance in a relationship with the Father in heaven, through Jesus Christ his Son. The Holy Spirit of God will act as the witness for this relationship and seals it.
Then your spirit will download the knowledge of God and the nature of Jesus Christ through the word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. As and when you grow in this relationship, knowledge “you” will slowly die and “Jesus” will be living in you.
Then the power in the name of Jesus will automatically be manifested as per the will of God to demonstrate his glory and power through your life. So, your faith is the only way to use the power in the name of Jesus.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love. Thank you for helping me to understand the power that is available to me in the name of Jesus. Thank you for reminding me about the requirement of having a true relationship with you to unleash this power and operate in it to bring glory to your name through my life and in my life. Help me to set right the thing which are not aligned with this understanding. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
