06-Jan-2024 – Does your ground have moisture?
And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture – Luke 8:6
In this verse it talks about rock. But where is this rock? In the field only. When the sower went out to sow his seeds, he did not prepare all the ground. There is a part in the ground where rocks are there. These seeds fell on that rocky ground. The important thing is the seeds which fell on the good ground and the rocky ground both sprung up. But when time passed, the plants sprung up from the rocky ground withered.
This is a very apt analogy for our spiritual life. When we hear the word of God, we will be motivated and will start acting on it someway or other. Couple of days it will be nice and happy. But afterwards we will lack interest or focus and whatever we started will just eventually be stopped.
I have personal experience in prayer discipline, family prayers and keeping my self away from worldly entertainment etc. Most of the times I took some measures to follow the decision and discipline. But eventually could not stand strong for it. The rocky ground lacks moisture. Moisture refers to the unwavering zeal. This zeal is required to stand strong for the decisions we took. Lets all God’s help to keep the zeal in our hearts alive.
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for talking to me about the rocky ground and it’s impact on the growth. Search my heart and help me to prepare my heart to clear everything that hinders my zeal for you. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
