04-Apr-2024 – When you publish the works of God, it paves way for someone’s salvation.
But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? – Zechariah 1:6.
In this verse, God was talking to the people of Israel about how the word of God was given to the prophets of old generation. When these prophets were telling everyone about the word of God, what happens if they do not heed etc., they did not hear. Whatever God told, exactly the same thing happened to them.
Now, again for the latest generation of Israel, God was telling about somethings that they need to set right. Also God warns them not to behave like their older generation.
But for us the point of interest is, “publishing the works of God” as this is our theme and focus for this month. In the verse we referred, the word of God was given to the prophets and they published it without fail. If we read couple of more words, we understand it better.
Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD – Zechariah 1:4
In this verse if we see, God gave the word to the prophets and they cried in the ears of the people. But the people did not hear and received their reward. So, the objective of this word of God is to actually prevent the people from tasting the wrath of God.
So we can understand one of the important aspects of publishing the work of God either finished or about to come. That is, when you publish the word of God, it creates a room for repentance and chances of being rescued from a danger.
If you remember the gospel message that is started with John the Baptist,
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand – Matthew 3:1-2
John is publishing the upcoming work of God, that is gathering everyone forever either into the heaven or the hell according to the path chosen by them. But this publishing or proclaiming actually giving an opportunity to the people to change their destination for good.
Jesus did the same and the commandment given to everyone is also to preach and publish the message of the gospel by sharing about the wonderful works of God in your life. This commandment is not just given to the pastors, prophets or elders of the church but to everyone.
This is one of the primary responsibilities of every believer. The people who hears this message can either accept or reject, that we need not to bother. But we should not stop the way for the message to reach a person by closing our mouth.
In our present days, in general churches hosts various activities to reach the lost and unsaved. But from an individual perspective how can we publish the works of God, so that everyone who hears or sees them can be saved?
Our life that we build and live based on the principles of the word of God, and keep them visible as a testimony to validate the word of God in our life, can serve as the best publishing mechanism for the word of God and the works of God.
This way will show an example for the receiver of the gospel message about how to take decisions according to the will of God, prayerfully? How to overcome the discouraging obstacles by pressing forward by faith and getting encouragement by worshipping Him? etc.
That’s why, when you publish the works of God, it paves way for someone’s salvation.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for teaching about proclaiming the word of God and the works of God to everyone. Even in my life, I heard someone talking about your word and works and I got an opportunity to understand your heart and change my life accordingly. Help me also to tell everyone about your love, compassion by showing my life as an example. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
