02-May-2024 – God’s kingdom is for you, and for your welfare
preaching the gospel of the kingdom – Mathew 4:23
The ministry of Jesus began with preaching about the kingdom of God. Today let us focus on understanding some aspects of a general worldly kingdoms, so that we can comprehend the kingdom of God.
As we learnt yesterday, a kingdom is ruled by a king who is the head of the kingdom, ruler and the owner of the kingdom. His authority is final and ultimate in almost all the matters of the kingdom. Today we will see various aspects that king will work upon.
Every kingdom exists for people. A king is called a king only when he has people to take care by leading them, protecting them and providing them. So people are the crucial part of any kingdom.
Every kingdom focusses on providing the following things to the citizens.
- Food
- Shelter
- Education
- Health
- Career
- Justice
- Spirituality
This list is not the complete list, but covers a considerable percentage of a person’s life. To make sure that all these areas are beneficial to the people of the kingdom and to avoid any mishandling, misrepresentations, misuse, or obstructions a Law is prepared and declared to the people of the kingdom.
The Law covers the dos and don’ts of the activities, procedures in the kingdom in any area of life with a goal of promoting healthy and fair social structure in the kingdom, making sure the reverence and loyalty to the royal house be intact in the hearts of the people.
In the kingdom of God also, we the people are important. In general we will compare the majesty, glory and mighty nature of the God and we will feel that we are useless and not-important for anything. But think once, if an Omnipotent, all knowing, all seeing, wonderful, mighty, sovereign God was ready to sacrifice His only begotten son for the sake of the people, then how much is the importance given by God to those people? right?
God also is interested in the welfare of his people both in the physical realm and spiritual realm. If we study the word of carefully, we know easily that the reason for our food is God. If we are staying happily and safely under a roof, it is the grace of God. If we are studying, its the grace of God. Likewise, everything that is needed in our life, is being provided only because of the heavenly Father who is our God.
God also created the Law which is condensed to remember easily. Love your God and Love your neighbour. We can say this is the theme of the Law. We will dig deeper in coming days to uncover many other aspects of the Law of God as revealed in His Son, Jesus Christ.
If someone is physically living in a kingdom, and if he is suffering from fever, what he does? he will use the transportation system available in the kingdom. He uses the money he earned using the career opportunities in the kingdom. He consults a doctor who was available because of the career opportunities and the welfare focussed will of the king.
But our God is king both in the physical realm and the spiritual realm. And one more important thing that we need to digest is, “spiritual things determines, influences, navigates the physical outcomes”.
If the same person in an earthly kingdom or a democratic nation, but is a believer of Jesus Christ and spiritual citizen of the heavenly kingdom, then the same scenario happens like this –
God appoints respective people to be directed into the life of this person to take him to the doctor and get treated. Some times, God also can decide to provide a miraculous healing as per his sovereign wish. Then God uses his appointed co-workers like a pastor, prophet or another believer to pray and heal him. Now you see, God takes care of the day-to-day activities of his people.
God taking care of the daily aspects of a person’s life is an ultimate truth that we need to base our life on. When we know this truth, then we will be assured in any given situation. Because the God is our king is mindful of our day-to-day activities and needs and works to make things happen to make our life to move on for good.
Today you remember, God’s kingdom is for you! for your welfare.
Prayer
Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching today another aspect of the kingdom of God. Yes Lord, your kingdom is to for me to live my life happily and with satisfaction. Thank you for being mindful of the things of my life. Thank you for taking care of the course of things that happens daily in my life. Help me to realize this and respect you and honour you. I pray in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
