01-Jul-2024 – Believe, Repent and be Redeemed

“And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.” – Isaiah 59:20

Today marks the beginning of a new month and a new theme: “If you believe.” May God speak to us through His Holy Spirit this month.

In Isaiah 59, we witness the Israelites experiencing difficult times due to their sins. The chapter opens with a stark reminder:

“Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” – Isaiah 59:1-2

Despite their prayers and cries for help, the Israelites’ sins created a barrier between them and God. Our righteous God cannot show favor to unrighteousness. When we sin, we lose our righteousness, blocking God’s response to our cries.

“For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;” – Isaiah 59:12

The continual wrongdoing led the Israelites to introspect and confess their sins. One of God’s most important characteristics is His readiness to forgive. Genuine repentance opens the door for God to act positively in our lives.

“Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.” – Isaiah 59:15

When people renounced their wicked ways and sought righteousness, they faced persecution from the wicked. God, in His justice, cannot tolerate the persecution of His repentant children. This stirs His wrath against the oppressors.

“And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.” – Isaiah 59:20

The Lord, as a Redeemer, comes to rescue His repentant children. If you believe in today’s call of God, you will see His salvation in your life. The people of God who turned away from their wicked ways and believed in Him received their expected results. Today, what about you and me?

Prayer:

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank you for your love and grace. Thank you for teaching us about your character and our weaknesses. When we realize and repent, you draw near to us. Thank you for your loving response to our life’s situations. Help us to recognize our sins, repent, and receive your redemption. I pray in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen!
